Have you even seen Dr. Ben Carson give an interview?

The movie does a good job of making Stephen an arrogant and gifted surgeon but one shouldn't drive distracted at a high rate of speed on a curvy mountain road. Seriously, I don't know if you can count him as one of the MU's polymaths though. He's very good at what he does in the mystical realm but even Doom can come pretty close to his level yet still invent a time travel device before graduating from college.

QFT. Wasn't that Fraction that started that in his Defenders? I recall seeing Stephen sprawled across the bed with a female college student in one of the opening issues. I dropped that series after that.

Iron Maiden Thanks now i'm associating "cut her mic" with "i've come to bargain" as 2016 brainy things to say.

I forgot about the "cut her mic" thing I just thought he looked half asleep at times. I remember him saying "The fruit salad of their life is what I would look at " picking Supreme Court candidates

I've often wondered about this. Most of the high level mystical beings have all created some type of mystical artifact, tome, weapon, device or paraphernalia. They've also pretty much patented their own spells. Does Dr. Strange have any mystical inventions to his credit? I think if we're to draw parallels between magic and science, inventions are a pretty big criteria for where you rank in the science field. If Strange does have something to his credit that would be awesome.

At least in that series, Fraction had the good taste to have that woman and another ex-girlfriend ( that Doc accidently brought back to life) tell him off. And Doc ultimately released how immature he'd been behaving. Aaron seems to be ignoring that and just making Strange young stud dude bro.

he is considered one of the smartest. it's just that we've been conditioned to only recognize inventors and scientists as smart; in comics. Strange has been the go-to magic specialist for a long time. and his career as a neurosurgeon makes him one of the most accomplished marvel geniuses.

in fairness to Strange, the second woman who told him off was his former teacher; who was involved in a morally dubious relationship with a student (Strange). Fraction's weird about that stuff. he had Scott Lang pursue a much younger woman, as well. it's his way of making characters flawed.

i'm sure that having a sorceress for a mother and having possession of her magic books (from a young age) didn't hurt. Strange was a prodigy, in respect to sorcery.

Disappointing. What has Clea been up to? I can't recall seeing her in anything current.

But Doctor Strange received training from one of the masters with the Ancient One. Doom received no such instruction and was self taught, which was probably a dangerous path to take for one so young. He is more of a prodigy for that reason. He didn't start getting formal instruction until we saw him seeking out past masters of magic using his time platform in Iron Man #149. (Cagliostro and Morgan Le Fey) Of course later Strange agreed to train in in advance of their battle against Mephisto. Stephen always suspected he continued with his studies by going back through time and picking up long forgotten spells and such. He acquired a huge library of arcana in the meantime.

as shown in the movie, "training" is really about reading and visualization. all the Ancient One did was get Strange to open his own mind; after decades of only believing in hard facts. Doom grew up in a culture where sorcery was already an accepted "science." he just read the books and practiced. what I'm saying is that Strange was, comparatively, a fast study. plus he was the Sorceror Supreme.

I think the problem is comic book writers and readers define intelligence in a rather narrow left brain way.

Let's look at say Matt Murdock and Reed Richards, Reed is clearly far more intelligent then Matt when it comes to science, but I think its safe to say Matt knows more about the legal system and being a lawyer then Reed does.

People are usually smart in where their natural talents lay, Reed may be the best in science, but that doesn't make him the number guy in every field of human knowledge

I also think Mr. Sinister knows more about genetics then Reed or Doom, because he is a specialist in that area, well Reed and Doom are kinda jack of all trades when it comes to science, there are going to be areas where others will know more, because they spend all their time on that area.
