When they use the Death Star to destroy the "seat of the Senate," is it actually Coruscant that's blown up...?

Not seen the film but what I find odd is why none of the characters in RO seem to have been referenced or appeared anywhere since those events took place, as they were so significant.
Yes, I know that RO was conceptualised over 40 years after the original SW and that you can't retroactively change what has taken place since but...
Rogue One is pretty interesting, because not only is it bad as a film itself, it's also bad in that it retroactively fucks up the whole ending to the original movie Star Wars. I wonder if anyone at any stage of development ever thought about how making the Death Star's one weakness a built in flaw might change the whole ending to a the first movie?
Under the "other problems I noticed" category I'll also file Rogue One taking from Inglourious Basterds, Apocalypse Now, Zatoichi, Blue Velvet, and Casino Royale among others...and somehow still managing to be such a bad movie. So clear are its problems that its kind of hard to believe it even made them in the first place. It's kind of the sad thing about Rogue One, it's so clearly made up great and good things it's pretty easy to imagine a version of the movie that doesn't suck balls. But that's not the version we got, we got the version that seemingly doesn't understand how or why any of its parts actually work.

Dammit Rouge
How do you think it changes the ending of Star Wars that everything was set up for them beforehand? I'd say it makes the whole ending less than when it's been revealed that everything was set up for the win
Me. Not like one shitty thing now doesn't make the other shitty thing any less shitty.

In the case of the Death Star, the Rebel strike team still got decimated (there is three out of the dozen or more ships sent surviving not counting the Millennium Falcon), and if not for Luke having the Force he might've missed the exhaust port. Sure Galen left an opening for the Rebels to attack, but that doesn't mean they could've done it. Luke arrived on Yavin 4 when they had been preparing the assault, so if Luke never showed up or lacked the benefit of the Force/Obi Wan guiding him they likely would've lost and Yavin 4 would've been star dust.
The Rebels had also gained the Death Star plans beforehand in Star Wars to know how to attack. The only thing that changed is we know how the plans got acquired, it still doesn't mean they could've won.
Nothing changed and the Empire did considerable damage to the squadron and would've destroyed it if not for space magic and Han Solo having a change of heart. The only thing that ensured a win was Ben Kenobi bringing on Luke Skywalker and introducing Han Solo, both of which had no bearing on Rogue One.

Technically, the vent wasn't the weakness Galen designed, the reactor chain-reaction was. So it kind of has two weaknesses.

I don't think the vent is really a weakness, considering that a) you kinda need exhaust vents, b) you need a space wizard to even it the target, and c) without Galen's sabotage a direct hit wouldn't do much of anything anyway.
I did get the very strong impression that Galen intended for a suicide squad to infiltrate the Death Star and place a small explosive charge, not attack it with tiny starfighters.
Rogue One being now pretty much my second star wars favorite movie i'm maybe a wee biased about it but i find that the whole set of events taking place at the end of the movie really bring a lot to a new hope.
Not that much about the death star, the whole thing never made a lot of sens anyway, didn't do back then in 77, it does a bit more now but well.... But for example now there is a reason why the rebels base was so lightly defended.
Most starfighters and ships having been lost during the battle of Scarif. It shows also a bit more about the people in the rebellion and i don't know, the plans feel so much more important now that we know how they were acquired and the people who got them.
The only two things who bothered me about Rogue One are the choppy editing of the 5-10 first minutes and the CGI zombies. Beside that, kid, that was truly one in a million.
