Before I post my next batch, I wanted to flag that my current goal will almost certainly not be met, as two factors will greatly decrease the amount of comics I can read:
1- I'm also trying to do a chronological read-through of my Star Wars: Legends novels and comics together (I've read all comics up to "Knight Errant", and then decided to throw the novels in; I'm only two in so far though).
2- Very soon (as in, within a week or two) I'll have a baby girl at home. I suspect my time I can devote to reading will GREATLY diminish lol.
Anyways, here's my total for 23 January to 28 February (see page 4 for my overall totals):

Things I've Learned So Far:
- Where Monsters Dwell was fantastic! Check this out if you skipped it. I wasn't expecting much, but boy was I wrong!
- I'm intrigued by the new publisher Vault and plan to check out each of their new books. Their first book, Fissure, was pretty good and the paper felt great.
- Manapul's art on Flash is incredible. I need to go back and see what else he has done and maybe check out Trinity.
- I like Barry and Patty together, but I can see he's going to go to Iris and break Patty's heart. Don't you do it Flash!!
- Those 1980s books are super dense. They're enjoyable (in their special way), but damn do they take forever to read.

Archie: Afterlife with Archie
DC: Superman, Super Sons, Wild Storm
Image: Autumnlands, The Fix
Vault: Fissure, Heathen
I've heard that Manapul's n52 Detective comics run was better than his Flash stuff storywise. My favourite from him is the Adventure comics Superboy mini written by Geoff Johns. That story is just adorable and heart breaking at the same time. His pre N52 Flash stuff with Johns was kinda meh.
The second WCA omni is better than the first one although I've enjoyed both. But there are less wordy and more serious 80's runs too, I loved Michelinie's Iron man and loved O'neill's follow up even more (Michelinie's is kinda wordy but O'neill's flows really well and O'neill really explores Stark's alcoholism). Or Stern's ASM and Cap. Bit dense but great. Or the proto Watchmen Squadron Supreme, which is quite "enjoyable" and not in a special way
196 books (4,701 pages) in 2017-02 Feb
106 books (3,285 pages) in 2017-01 Jan
Take time for yourself. I have a job. I have a dog; I have a wife; I have a baby (all female!) But one’s bedtime is another’s book time. Reading is almost my sole “me” activity right now. I’m glad to have a hobby I can enjoy in 10 minute increments.
[Top Shelf] Lone Racer
~4 issues
93 pages
Blind read from Nicolas Mahler. Curiously exaggerated art portraying a has-been racing driver who just wants the glory days. Didn’t do much for me.
[Top Shelf] Van Helsing’s Night Off
~4 issues
95 pages
More offbeat humor from Mahler, but more fun than Lone Racer. I believe this book contains no dialogue; it seems to suit him better.
[Marvel] Guardians of the Galaxy (2013) Omnibus
~46 issues
~1100 pages
I did not buy this. You should not buy this. I read this (mostly) on MU as my first print exposure to Guardians. So disappointing. It can only get better from here. I already dislike the fact that I can tell what this run has undone.
[Marvel] Guardians of the Galaxy (1990) Omnibus
~31 issues
~870 pages
I read this (mostly) on MU to anticipate the omnibus release (partially to defer a blind buy). Only a few annuals were missing (Korvac). I haven’t read Marvel cosmic older than Infinity Gauntlet. I found no learning curve to these characters or this environment (year 3000 post-Avengers Marvel universe) despite a staggering amount of history to relearn. I quickly navigated new names and faces, and I even began anticipating individual reactions to events. I’d like to finish this year 3000 stuff.
[Marvel] Wolverine & the X-Men Omnibus
43 issues
936 pages
Another MU read. So uneven. Some arcs flew, some dragged…sooo…slowly… I do like the Broo story, but a significant portion involves AvX - and I had no interest. I do like watching Wolverine navigate his many lives/jobs/roles. I do generically enjoy observing student life. I just never felt a consistent narrative. I also felt there were too many prerequisites for a jumping on point.
[DC] The Death of Superman
12 issues
224 pages
My first exposure to this material (honestly to 90’s DC). This collection seemed to drag on and not actually permit much to happen. I have the following collections as well; I hope there’s more meaningful content.
[Vertigo] Y: The Last Man (Books 2-5)
50 issues
1221 pages (320 + 320 + 281 + 300)
Delightful. The situations feel tangible, and very little of the dialogue feels dated (notably comments regarding the G W Bush administration that could go unnoticed to inattentive readers). Giving the protagonist a literary penchant must be a writer’s joy. For me, the highlight is the ongoing debate of two Rosencrantz/Guildenstern-esque characters regarding the nature, transmission, prescription, pragmatism, futility and media of art in their post-apocalyptic reality. The extremity and enormity of their circumstances serve to accelerate the arguments to their natural conclusions. Speaking of conclusions, I think I like this one for the world in which these characters live. (What is BKV’s deal with French?)
[Vertigo] We Stand on Guard
6 issues
162 pages
Definitely something about French. Modern military/political commentary occurring 100 short years from now. Not drastic plausibilities if you rationalize them over decades. Fun thought experiments regarding torture, espionage and guerrilla warfare.
Looks like I will be trying both shortly. http://www.cheapgraphicnovels.com/kerascoet-hc-set.html
