    Default 1000 books in 2017

New year, new thread, old challenge!

The goal, just like in the previous 2 years, is to read a 1000 comic book issues in 365 days, starting today!

Keep us updated of your progress and if you fancy write a few lines about what you've read, what you liked and disliked, just to keep things interesting and informative.

Usually a 22 pages comic counts as one issue, in case of other formats just divide it with 22. If you feel like your 48 pages long French album is really wordy and takes just as long to read as a 120pg american tpb then feel free to count it as 3 or even 5 issues, nobody gonna shout at you, it's all for fun.

    Happy reading folks!

I failed the 2015 challenge and got so burnt out by binge reading on the back end that i skipped 2016 entirely.

But 2017 is my year for sure!

Since I "rebooted" and returned to reading and collecting DC comics hardcore in 2016, I'm in for this!
If I read even half of what I've purchased in all the Omni's,HC Deluxes, and trades, I should make it. The only problem would be: working all the time to make more $$$ to buy more books!!! Ha!

I'm starting more classical novels (due to my studies). Time to give Virgils' 'Aeneid' a second attempt.

Target for the year is 1200 comics and 12 prose books.

The comics should be do able as I got to almost 750 in half a year (in 2016) the prose probably a little more of a challenge even though I have 7 of the 12 books bought and lined up.

I do my prose reading in audio book form because I'm walking at least an hour every day to and from work so that's the perfect time for that. Also listening to stuff when I'm drawing or building my models. Prose reading can be done without using your eyes but comics reading can't. Time management.
Of course it's not for every one and some good books are ruined by sub par narrators but there are some truly great audiobooks out there.

And yes, it counts as reading too, it doesn't matter if someone is reading it to you, your brain still has to translate the information and imagine the scenarios, etc.

I didn't make it last year but I think this is my year. Does it have to be something you've never read before to count or can rereading an old book count towards the 1000?

whatever you want. Technically you can read the same issue a 1000 times. There are no strict rules.

Yeah I walk for about an hour a day too, but I like to keep that as "quiet time" as it is one of the few times of the day I have to just myself. Work is an information overload, home is the same; TV, music, books and comics so I like to have a little time to just my thoughts.

I did listen to Fatherland on a long drive recently and it was nice, maybe I need to drive more!

I can understand that. Do you like Harry Potter? The Stephen Fry audiobooks are fantastic. Or if you liked Locke & Key I would highly recommend NOS4A2.

    I don't think I'll make it, but I'll give it a shot:

    - All Star Batman #5
    - Batman Annual #1
    - Teen Titans #3
    - Superman #13
    - Green Arrow #13
    - The Flash #13
    - Captain America: Steve Rogers #8
    - Action Comics #970
    - Spider-Man/Deadpool #12

Total: 11 (counting ASB and the annual as 2 as they're double sized)
