update:
Daredevil by Bru Omni v1 (24) - Haven't read these in years. They still hold up really well. Bru didn't really miss a beat, as the arcs flowed together beautifully as one continuous story.
Deadpool Minibus V1 (20) - Not really a huge Deadpool fan, and this certainly didn't help change my mind. Actually put this down for a few months and forced myself to go back to it. Night of the Living Deadpool was the best of the bunch imo, with the rest of the minis ranging from bad to just meh. Here's hoping v2 is an improvement.

Teen Titans by Johns Omni (18) - I read up to Infinite Crisis last year, and just now got around to finishing it. Overall pretty enjoyable. Nothing groundbreaking, but i thought Johns did well navigating through the various "events" and subsequent line-up retoolings with a cast I really enjoyed reading.

I should note that I've been reading Realm periodically. I re-read East of West 1 again. I liked it but quite frankly I don't know how anyone could read this in floppies. I got about 4 issues into vol. 2 and I'm just not going to finish it. Hickman can be really really great and other times, he just loses track about what he's doing. And no, I really don't believe there's an overall coherent theme to what he does. I think he slaps **** against the wall and forces it to stick. Whatever. There's so much good stuff out there I'm just not bothering anymore with average. Yes, it's harsh and I'm sure it will get criticism but it is what it is.

Jojos were not a bad start. The art was kind of dated but not that bad and the action was very over the top at some panels. The story was easy to follow, simple and abit naive. There was some unexpacted gore, i wouldn't expect such a level of gore from a shounen.

The Manhattan Projects #1-25/ The Sun Beyond the Stars #1-4: Weird anything goes series reimagining the folks behind the Manhattan Projects as much more insane. It is a lot of fun and often surprising, but very unfocused.
Daredevil Volume 2 #56-81: The second half of Bendis' run has more of a focus on individual stories, which has some benefits but also limits the issue to issue continuity. It remains a satisfying run about the worst case scenario for a superhero.
What If Karen Page Had Lived: Decent one-off that gets its theme across quite well.
Applicant: Interesting art experiment juxtaposing photos of PHD candidates with commentary from the application committee.
Inhuman #1-14/ Annual #1: An unfocused series covering mysteries with the royal family at a tumultuous time and some newcomers. Has some nice art by Joe Mad and Stegman.
Super Powers #1-6: An all-ages DC series with an Indy sensibility, covering a series that takes some weird departures (Superman's mom is alive) but pulls it off well enough.
Submariner #8, 14: These were in the Roy Thomas Visionaries hardcover, and highlight his ability to use golden age continuity for twist endings.
Mad #1-23: I read this in the Wally Wood/ Jack Davis/ Will Elder TPBs, as well as an old CD rom collection for the other stories (IE John Severin's conclusion.) This is a staggering array of parodies, and I can see why they eventually had to change formats.

I've slowed down quite a bit and fallen 12 issues behind on my 3 a day goal. That number is only going to go up because i have a couple novels I've been wanting to read but haven't.
I think i need to take a step back from the Silver Age material and after a couple novels i'll be ready to dive back in. The first issue of Solar didn't really grab me, but that might be from the SA fatigue.
I read those 5 issues of Albert Monteys' UNIVERSE! last year. But they recently collected them into a digital trade. I want to see him keep writing those so i bought them again. They don't take long to read and are very enjoyable.
The Dragonlance issues are the surprise hit here. I'm a big fan of the Weis & Hickman novels. These first 8 issues are two, 4 issue, mini series that tie in with the events of their Chronicles trilogy. They don't get all of the canon exactly right, but they do feel like dragonlance and give a nice slice of life view of that setting. I was on the fence about buying the other two volumes IDW put out but now I think i need to track them down.Last edited by Mormegil; 06-01-2017 at 12:32 PM.
