It might have to do with the fact he has Oscars in writing and directing
Batman Returns was more of a Tim Burton movie while Batman was more of a Batman movie. Anyone could have made the Batman movie that showed up on the screen, but I don't think anyone
else could have made the Batman Returns movie that showed up on the screen. Proof of that is instead of going back to what made Batman so well received, Schumacher tried to one-up
Burton's Batman Returns by being even more outlandish. They were like a parody of Batman Returns. I think that may have been why Nolan's films were so well received, they got back to
the elements that made the Batman movie popular and went even further in that direction.
He's not.
If he takes too long or doesn't do what the studio wants they'll fire him as a director and enforce his contract so he works with whoever they hire to replace him.
It's why it's funny when he says a Batman movie won't happen unless he wants it to, so naive.
"The means are as important as the end - we have to do this right or not at all.
Anything less negates every belief we've ever had, every sacrifice we've ever made."
"Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
"No justice, no peace."
Not so much. For one thing, his proven credentials are as good as anyone else likely to take on the task (and if they DO get rid of him, only jobsworths and no-marks are likely to be going to work with them), they've got a LOT invested in their shared universe and having to recast Batman two movies in would do a lot of damage to that; plus the negative publicity it would attract would probably do quite a lot of damage to sales, of the Batman film itself at least and possibly others in the shared universe. Affleck is in a very strong position to negotiate from, they COULD get rid of him yes but it would be an absolute last resort.
There was a rumor article (think this started on the Latino Review site) back in 2012/2013 Warner Bros. was trying to get him to direct the Justice League movie along with starring as Batman. So they have been hot for his involvement for some time now. Having him take on the Batman role in his own movie probably makes them feel like there is more 'stickiness' to keeping him dedicated to growing Batman and potentially some other film (Justice League 2?). It wouldn't hurt much having the guy from 'Gone Baby Gone', 'The Town', 'Argo' and 'Gone Girl' being associated with the DC Universe.
Slade is almost immortal.
And at his strongest point before being depowerwd used skill to hold off wonder woman, oh and knocked out batman with a single kick. Without the enhancments batman gives him a fight, with them he just a game for slade.
Hes not that strong and fast really, his healing factor and his brain are the real enhancements. His reaction time just makes him seem faster then he is.

well, sure, if I had to pick between Batman, Edward Scissorhands, or Pee-Wee's Big Adventure then Batman's going to come in last place more often than not. but Burton and Nolan both demonstrate a clear grasp of character and narrative in the sum of their works.
I also don't actively dislike their films in the same way that I dislike Snyder's. case in point, I've actually watched their films more than once. that's never happened with Snyder, and is unlikely to happen in the near future.
