Was Quake's powers ever defined as being mutate or mutant related prior to her tying into her shows version as an Inhuman? Or was it just unknown prior to incorporating her AoS self design? Similarly was her mother ever shown in the comics? Especially prior to Jiaying in the show?


Still I can't say I mind. I did like comics Quake. She was quirky (like using her Quake powers to rile people who were near her away) but using her AoS self makes more sense overall.

As far as I know she was once considered a mutant, but in a "we just didn't gave her any origin, sorry" kind of way(like Squirrel Girl) but that was retconned into her getting her powers from her father(so she would be a "mutate"), but that was mostly just speculation. The current origin is that while she's an Inhuman, her Inhuman gene was activated by her father's experiments rather than going through terrigenesis.

Her mother was never shown I think, but it was mentioned to be a prostitute name Jennifer. A version of Jiaying appeared on the Quake oneshot, they didn't said she was her mom, but it was implied that she knew her. She was created by Rosenberg who's writing the new SW book, so maybe he'll reveal that she's her actual mom or something.

Interesting, yeah if they're actually using Jiaying in the comics I'd be surprised if she didn't end up being Diasy's mom somehow or at least closely related down the line.

Wasn't aware there was a Quake one-shot. Was it any good/interesting? Was it some kind of one-shot meant to tie-in or hype a coming story?

there was a Quake SHIELD 50th anniversary one-shot last year, along with ones for Peggy Carter, Mockingbird, Nick Fury and Melinda May.

It was decent I thought.

It's a fun little story set in the days of Daisy being an Avenger adding a few more elements of her MCU counterpart's origins.
