    Avengers #125 Jul 1974
"The Power of Babel!" Guest-starring Captain Mar-Vell.
Returning to the US following their battle against the Star Stalker in Vietnam,
the Avengers turn Mantis's alleged father, Zodiac's Libra, over to the authorities.
At their mansion, they reflect on recent events

and are soon visited by Rick Jones's girlfriend, Lou-Ann Savannah.
The story then recaps the events of Captain Marvel #25-32,

summarizing the Avengers' involvement in Captain Mar-Vell's ongoing struggle against Thanos.

Flying into space with the Zodiac's starship and a modified Quinjet, the Avengers defend the Earth against Thanos's invasion force.
They manage to destroy the aliens' translation devices, making them unable to
effectively communicate and give the Avengers the edge to destroy the entire armada.

Returning to Earth, the Avengers rejoice on the Mansion's rooftop,

unsuspecting that Thanos is waiting nearby for his moment to strike...
Cameo appearances by Libra, Lou-Ann Savannah, Thanos and the Skrulls.

Script by Steve Englehart. Art by John Buscema (breakdowns) and Dave Cockrum (finishes).

    Avengers #185 Jul 1979
    "The Yesterday Quest!"
The Avengers agree to pay for damages to the harbor incurred during the battle against Absorbing Man, and then return to the mansion.

The Avengers settle in to relax for a little bit.

In East Transia, Wanda, Pietro, and Django check into a hotel for the night.
Quicksilver's thoughts are much troubled by conflicting recollections of the past.
Wanda's sleep is disturbed by a rather different sort of phantasm - Mordred!
He offers help on her quest, but to her alone, for the path is dangerous for those without arcane might!
She agrees to go with him, and they fly off into the night.

Arriving on Wundagore, they are attacked by a defensive device of the High Evolutionary's that Wanda defeats.
They then come to the stronghold's ruins itself, and there before them is a floating book and altar.
A book belongs to Mordred's master, and the altar... is for Wanda!
Mordred knocks Wanda out with an arcane blast, and the mountain is silent except for the low rumble of laughter.

In the morning, Quicksilver and Django find Wanda missing.
Quicksilver, distraught, searches all over the village for her, but finds no clue,
until a little girl tells him she saw lights fly up to Wundagore last night.
Quicksilver races up the mountain, only to be repelled by a pin sphere and knocked unconscious.

Quicksilver finally comes to in the care of the bull-headed creature who delivered him into the world!

Avengers Lineup: Beast, Captain America, Falcon, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Jocasta, Ms. Marvel, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision and the Wasp.

One of the reasons that the comicbook character Ms. Marvel telling the comicbook character Jocasta that she likes her current costume better than her previous one, is that they give her a freedom of movement the Kree uniform seemed to lack..

The fight itself attracts the attention of the Avengers, who come to try and stop the battle themselves.

As the battle rages across the city, Mystique reports to her superiors about the progress of the attack,
while on the planet Hala, Phae-Dor and Bun-Dall are convinced that the Supreme Intelligence is still in stasis.
However, they will soon learn how wrong they are.

Back on Earth, the Avengers get into an argument over what to do about Centurion, unaware that the enemy is making one more attack on the group.

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #3 Jul 1984
    "Tempest Without, Crisis Within!"
A powerful storm rages across Battleworld and Magneto watches it from his hideout before releasing his prisoner the Wasp.

When the Wasp threatens to bring the hideout down around them, Magneto suggests that it would
be a bad idea with the storm raging outside and suggests that they call a truce for the time being.
Magneto then tries to charm the Wasp as well as try to convince her that he is not the monster she thinks he is.

While at the heroes base, Ben Grimm and the Torch watch as the storm looses some
massive rocks that come crashing down toward them before being destroyed by Thor.
This has Hawkeye and She-Hulk on guard for the moment. When they realize
there is no danger, Hawkeye confides that he wants to get home to his new wife.

Elsewhere Iron Man and Captain Marvel also take pause to notice Thor.
When Iron Man questions why Thor just doesn't stop the storm, Captain Marvel figures he enjoys it too much.

In the communications room the Hulk, Captain America and Mister Fantastic are overseeing things after the damage done to their
temporary headquarters, after Magneto attacked, as well as keeping tabs on Galactus who is still standing atop a nearby mountain.
Reed expresses his concern for his wife who is pregnant and is about to give birth soon.
The Hulk pipes in about what he will do to the villain who kidnapped his girl back home as well.
With the repairs Reed excuses himself from the others so he can have some time alone.

Reed's departure is observed by Spider-Man who remarks on how depressed Reed looks.
Web-swinging through the facility Spider-Man feels as though it was specially designed for him to do so,
and briefly wonders if that was intentional before ultimately dismissing the idea.
He happens to come upon the X-Men who are holding private council with their leader.
While they discuss the distrust they are receiving from the other heroes, Xavier has decided that his team is going to leave to join up with Magneto.
Just as he is saying, Professor X detects Spider-Man's presence and tells his X-Men to stop him before he can warn the others.
Spider-Man fights back and easily trips up the X-Men and flees the scene.
Spider-Man tries to warn Reed about what's going on, but Xavier uses his telepathic abilities
to make Spider-Man forget what he heard and Cyclops smooths things over with Mister Fantastic, making it
seem as though Spider-Man is probably just cracking up under the pressure of being kidnapped by the Beyonder.
The two heroes share a moment where they express their distress of being taken away from their respective wives before Xavier
telepathically calls Cyclops back to the group. Commandeering a shuttle, Xavier tells his students to set a course of Magneto's citadel.

At that moment, Magneto is in a teleconference with Doctor Doom and refuses his offer to join sides.
Doom warns him that he will live to regret that decision.
Magneto terminates the call and sees to his guest the Wasp who appears to be warming up to
the Master of Magnetism in spite of herself and the two suddenly get into the throws of passion.

While at Doombase, Doctor Doom has two test subjects: Skeeter MacPherran and Marsha Rosenberg.
Utilizing the devices within the lab, Doom endows them with super-human powers.
As Volcana, Rosenberg has the power to channel volcanic plasma and Skeeter -- now calling herself Titania -- has been given enhanced strength.
Doom then brings his newly empowered minions to meet the other villains gathered.
There Titania intends to prove that she is no longer the scrawny woman she used to be by trying to pick a fight with the Absorbing Man.
With nothing to prove, Absorbing Man brushes off her insults and Titania storms off in a fury when the Wrecker begins making lewd offers to her.
Volcana meanwhile seems to find a bond with the soft-spoken and uncertain Molecule Man,
who opens up to her about what his therapist might think about him using his powers to help Doctor Doom.

Meanwhile, Thor has returned inside the heroes base and come down to the prisoner hold.
Passing the stasis units containing the members of the Wrecking Crew and Kang,
he stops at the medi-chamber containing the Enchantress who was injured in the battle.
He frees her to discuss things that are "not meant" for mortal ears.
She agrees and opens a portal to take them elsewhere to discuss matters.

Soon it is dawn and the heroes realize that they have overslept leaving them open for attack.
No sooner is this realized do the forces of Doctor Doom launch their attack.
With the added numbers of Titania and Volcana, the villains manage to not only gain the element of surprise but the upper hand as well.

Caught off guard, the heroes are forced to retreat, allowing Doom and his minions to rescue their captive allies.

How many negabands did the Supreme Intelligence make at first for Rick Jones/Mar-vell?

    Anyone know?

Logically there should be 4, but I'm wondering if there were only 2 bands, and they duplicated to 4

Why is it logical that there are to be 4 Are the negabands worn by the comicbook character Captain Mar-Vell not the same negabands worn by Mar-Vell's son?

It depends on how do they work. Is there only a pair, and when Rick and Marvel exchanged placed the negabands remain in place instead of going with the one who departs? Or does each one has his own pair, , allowing for this whole thing to happen?

In fact, it may have started the first way (only 2), and some later writer got it all wrong and wrote it as the second way (4 negabands). I dunno, I haven't read those comics in a while.

genis vell's were made separately from what I remember when he showed up in the silver surfer annual.
there were a few negabands that were just made

in the very first appearance of negabands there were 2 that mar-vell wore and we them on him back in the negative zone, and 2 in a cave on earth to which he lured rick jones to.

What Im wondering is if there were 2 bands that replicated themselves or 4. Because later on there was a story where mar-vell/rick jones weren't switching across the negative zone but were both present in the same dimension, and they had just 2 negabands between them (when they'd split, they'd each wear just one, when they'd fuse the mar-vell body had 2 )

but there was also a story where rick had to find a set of negabands from a kree outpost to summon mar-vell

This is not a question with a straightforward answer because the Captain Marvel comic was (despite how much I love it) creatively a bit of a mess.

I'm going to argue for one pair at a time.

When we first see Mar-Vell in his new red-and-blue, he is wearing gold wristbands as part of his outfit, but I don't think they are supposed to be the Nega-bands; they are, as far as I can tell, purely cosmetic. If they were Nega-bands he should be able to do things with them while in the Negative Zone, but he doesn't, presumably because they are useless. Rick is lured into putting on a pair of Nega-bands on Earth, and when he smashes them together he switches place with Mar-Vell, with Mar-Vell being on Earth and wearing the bands, and Rick in the Negative Zone - only Rick is not wearing the bands there. So, there are only one pair of bands (except for the new pair Rick finds in another Kree outpost on Earth (CM#23) to replace the original pair that dissolved in the early part of the Avengers Kree/Skrull War), worn by whoever is on Earth.

So I think some artists saw gold wrist-bands as part of Mar-Vell's uniform and drew them on him even when he shouldn't have been wearing Nega-bands, like Don Heck and Gil Kane did at the end of CM #16 and beginning of #17 respectively, while others thought without the bands he should look bare-wristed, thus causing confusion.

Really, most writers seem completely confused by what Mar-Vell's powers were, where they came from, and what their limits were. Even as a life-long Mar-Vell fan I'm not really sure I could categorically state which of Mar-Vell's powers comes from where.
