    Avengers #247 Sep 1984
"The Ties that Bind!" Guest-starring the Eternals.
When the Eternals reveal to their guests their origins as a separate species of humanity
created millennia ago by the genetic intervention of the space-born Celestials,
Starfox realizes that the brother of their former ruler Zuras who is named Alars,
is his father Mentor and that he and his fellow Titanians are also Eternals.
The Avengers locate their missing members

and Captain Marvel joins the Wasp and Starfox in Olympia,

where Eros is invited to join in an ancient ritual.
To decide the destiny of their race, the gathered Eternals become one,
fusing into the Uni-Mind, a collective thinking organism.

Then, as the Vision and the Scarlet Witch watch on a tele-monitor, Captain Marvel
and the Wasp are struck down by Maelstrom, who declares himself master of Olympia.

Flashback cameos by Chronos, Zuras, Mentor, Sui-San and Thanos to recap the history of Titan.
Avengers Lineup: Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Starfox, Vision and the Wasp.
NOTE: Maelstrom previously appeared in Marvel Two-in-One 72.

Script by Roger Stern. Art by Al Milgrom (breakdowns) and Joe Sinnott (finishes).

Really wish we’d get a return of Mar-Vell and Carol getting the Ms. Marvel name back. Though I don’t know how that will happen with Kamala Khan hogging the Ms. Marvel and modern higher-up people demanding Carol Danvers be Captain Marvel. Only solution it seems would to be to give Kamala Khan a different name. Even saw it suggested before that she be aged up somehow and become the new Captain Marvel while Carol goes back to Ms. That I wouldn’t mind as much as there are many Captain Marvel characters. Bottom line I really wish Carol got her name and costume back and Mar-Vell and Billy Batson were once again recognized as the premiere owners of the title Captain Marvel.

I've heard from the opinions of some people that they found Carol Danvers to be the most compelling as a character when she had the identity of Ms. Marvel, partly blaming Brian Michael Bendis for Civil War 2 writing and making her into a generic “tough woman” when everything she was before was the opposite. Rather interesting.

They also started defeminizing her artwise and made a conscious attempt to cover her up. It is better now but I still miss the black costume with the mask.

I just read the Jim Starlin penned Death Of Captain Marvel graphic novel again and must say that it still managed to blow me away again after so many years since it was published.

I'd recommend anyone who hasn't read this magnificent story to do so asap.
Enjoying the camraderie of friends and family is all that matters in the world.

And after meeting Captain Marvel, Binary too said her farewell to Captain Mar-Vell.

After being introduced to Captain Marvel, Binary finds out that Captain Mar-Vell has died.

Carol bursts out of the mansion and into space. We next see her on Titan, having spoken to Mentor and learned where to find Mar-Vell's grave.

As she pays respects without crying, she recalls her experiences and feelings for him from her days as security chief at Cape Canaveral.

The story implies a stronger relationship between the two than seen in Ms. Marvel #19
but it seems to be more about the fact that she has Kree genetics and that Mar-vell abandoned his people for Earth and made himself an outcast,
and of course he was also "cosmic" so she saw in him some similarities that might have helped her cope with what she's become.

Script by Chris Claremont, pencils by David Ross, inks by Bob Wiacek.
