Star Trek: The Wrath Of Khan
    Conan The Barbarian
    Pink Floyd The Wall
    Tootsie
    ET

Swamp Thing belongs no better than the list of Guilty Pleasures, and probably not that high.

    End of discussion.

    1982 was a good one...

    48 Hours
    The Beastmaster
    Blade Runner
    Conan the Barbarian
    The Dark Crystal
    Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
    Fast Times At Ridgemont High
    Firefox
    Gandhi
    Night Shift
    Pink Floyd - The Wall
    Porky's
    The Secret of NIMH
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
    The Thing
    Tootsie
    Tron

Yeah, I know... E.T., but honestly I never really cared much for that movie.

Films that has not been said that I enjoyed on that time period -

Bugs Bunny's 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales -- what can I say Love WB toons
The Sword and the Sorcerer - Very B film - but love the Merc didn't stay for love
Zapped! -- Ofcourse after hearing later in life they use a body double for Heather Thomas just disappointing

Since I didn't see either of them get a mention...

    - The Fulci film Manhattan Baby is a winner.
    - The film version of the S.E. Hinton book Tex was also decent. Even more so when you factor in that it was a Disney film.

Disney actually got me thinking about the Kenny Rogers' film Six Pack. It's pretty cute, and I think it came out in eighty-one or eighty-two.

While it didn't get much of a wide release or come out on video until way later, I think the Neil Young film Human Highway came out in eighty-two.

    4. E.T.
    11. The Dark Crystal.
    12. The Secret of NIMH.
I was about 7 so these three are the only movies I actually saw at the theater. Pretty solid themes for movies aimed at kids back when. RIP Jim Henson, an Instagram went around couple weeks ago with him and Aughra at an intersection and it damn near choked me up. Henson had teams of puppeteers but nowadays it's more like dozens of teams of digital effects people.

Anyway, 48 hours to me is the funnier of the two between it and Beverly Hills Cop. BHC hit harder in spots but I've always liked Reggie Hammond more than Axel Foley. Both great, funny movies but 48 hours is more...RAW (see what I did there). I also think my dad caved in and got HBO around this time and that brought a lot of these movies into peoples homes before VHS took off.

E.T. man, that was a thing yo. I think I've sat through it once since the time I saw it first run, I think even as a kid you can tell when a movie is a little too heavy on the feels knowwhatImean. Once I got older though I've always enjoyed Close Encounters much more, I've probably seen it more times over the years than I care to admit and anytime it's on I'm in it for a spell.

To answer the question though John Carpenter's The Thing rules time and space for me. I didn't even ever see it until the late 90's but it's one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. One of the rare movies I've owned across three formats.
Beefing up the old home security, huh?
    You bet yer ass.

So cool you saw those in theaters, that's how old my big brother was when he saw The Thing, ET, Tron, Star Trek II, Dark Crystal, Conan, The Last Unicorn, Secret of NIMH, Creepshow etc. in theaters.

I was 16 years old in 1982. I remember seeing several of these in the theater. I can even tell you what theaters I saw Wrath of Khan, Beastmaster, and Secret of NIMH in. None of them still exist. :-(
