Default Things that suck to you because they got too popular?

Brought to you by TvTrope's page: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ularNowItSucks

What are things that you dislike because they got way too popular and you see them everywhere too much?

What are things that you used to like a lot better when they were relatively obscure or only had a cult following at best, but now have even less interest in them ever since they got too much popularity and publicity?

What are things that are obscure or not too mainstream that you really like, but kinda wish they didn't become too popular and exposed to everyone else?

Hipster elitism was really cool when it was just me and my friends. Now all these Johnny come lately have jumped on the trend, it's not as fun.

I've accepted that humans eventually ruin everything so I just like what I want and ignore how popular or unpopular it is with everyone else.

I like things I don't like as long as someone else in the room (or forty thousand on the internet) enjoy watching or reading it. I like being happy for other people geeking out over stuff.

Really, almost every instance I can think of, where I've seen someone complain about how their niche little thing is now everywhere and mainstream it's someone talking about something that was a national or international phenomenon when they got into it.

I don't see how someone else's enjoyment of something or lack thereof should affect what I like and don't like or how much I enjoy it. If I like it, I like it no matter who does or does not. If I don't like it, I don't no mater who likes it or not. If I don't like something and someone who' opinion I really respect enjoys it and give a compelling reason why, I might try watching/reading/playing/whatever it again to give it a second chance see if perhaps there was something I missed the first time around or they was something else affecting my enjoyment of it the first time around, but I always felt that if you let other's people's enjoyment of something ruin your experience (or affect it in any way), then you are not being true to yourself, or you are looking for reasons to be unhappy and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, so you get what you deserve.

Generally speaking -- Rap Music (not Hip-Hop)

Personally speaking -- buffed Symmetra on Overwatch (was gonna say D.Va but D.Va could never suck)

    CK1 & CKB

I'm into colognes/men's fragrances so I have a particular interest in wearing scents that I don't recognize among the general public.

Luckily, a large majority of men do NOT seem to have this interest as well. So I fully enjoy the compliments I get from women about how nice I smell & inquire as to what I'm wearing.

However, there has been times when some fragrances such as unisex scents have gotten so incredibly popular that I dropped them immediately. When Calvin Kline CK1 was so incredibly successful that people started saying, "You smell like my uncle/little brother/science teacher... That was then followed by the follow up, Calvin Kline CKB in the black bottle.

I pretty much dropped Calvin Kline fragrances after that.

    Tattoos

When middle age/soccer moms/basic bitches are going to get scorpions put on the base of their necks, it's time to step out of the scene. At this point I wish I was a dermatologist/laser removal specialist.

    CIGARS

After continuously running into gaggles of roving douchebag Millennials at regular cigar spots/bars it was time to explore pipe tobacco. I live in both worlds--cigars/summer & pipes/winter. I stick to mostly aromatics & hence very few social justice warriors have felt compelled to pontificate to me about the "dangers" of smoking.

Since a large part of being a fan is fandom itself, I think this trope makes a lot of sense to me. It's a large part of why I don't enjoy the Harry Potter franchise, current Star Wars, and Sherlock. When you can't have a conversation that scratches the itch of thoughtful, careful, and interesting because of the oversaturation of trite, easy, and whining (not to mention outright fandom attacks), the property itself loses a lot of its appeal.

    Metallica.

Although their enormously successful 1991 album isn't bad by any means it elevated the bands popularity to new heights and I got sick of them. They became the band that they'd spent the entire 80's claiming that they would never become.

The 'Load/Reload' period was garbage to me, but they sold millions.

Automatic cars. I don't like it at all, it's too boring and uncomfortable to me, you can't felt the car. Yesterday I proved one (my aunt's car) and I was annoyed because I couldn't change the marches like I wanted. They become more popular in my country, step by step, and I don't like at all. They cost more, the reparations and maintenance cost more, and they consume more. That sucks.
