Without his hammer, Hulk would kill him.

This is such a long overdue fight. The dust up in the first Avengers movie wasn't nearly enough

Superhero fights don't have winners or losers. It's a rule.

However, theoretically, if Hulk is Hulk, Thor wins because Hulk can only fight reflexively. He can't do any real long game strategy. If Hulk is Banner Hulk, it's whoever gets the luckiest punch.

Actually, what is more interesting is they finally admitted Doctor Strange will have a larger role in the film. Which is starting to also feel like the original Defenders release (though that was Silver Surfer in place of Thor).

Doctor Strange confirmed for Thor: Ragnarok

The Disney fan service, D23, has posted a piece advertising some of the big-name projects coming out from the studio this year, including GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 and STAR WARS EPISODE VIII, and in the process confirmed that none other than the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), will be joining the fight in THOR 3:

"If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new."

This may not come as a huge shock for anyone that stayed behind for the after credits scene in DOCTOR STRANGE, which featured the charming hero having a lovely sit-down with Thor, in the end offering his help in the God of Thunder’s journey. Before STRANGE came out there was a hint this would happen in an image from the THOR 3 set, but it’s always good to get these things officially confirmed. Even after the credits scene no one really knew how big Strange’s role would be if he did show up, but this plot synopsis hints the character will probably have a bigger role in the movie than we thought, if only to help Thor get where he needs to go, and then show up during the climax in a get-away car.

Even though he's a "god," Thor versus Hulk sounds like a short fight, especially if the former is without Mjolnir. Depends on how much either/or gets nerfed. I hope there's more to the movie than an arena centerpiece.

True, and we know there won't be a winner/loser in this event, but things could get a lot more interesting if Strange "possesses" Thor in a scenario like the one in World War Hulk.

Oh, wait. That won't happen because the MCU won't let Strange conjure a demon. He's all Time Stone now.

Strategy? It's gladiatorial combat. Pummeling till one guy can't get up.

given that they're trying to build up to Infinity War, that Strange possesses an infinity stone, and that the Ragnarok villain is (probably) going to be a high-tier magic user... it seems like Strange would practically be required to help the protagonists prevail by the end of the film.

I'm not real excited about this rematch because if it's just going to be super-fisticuffs I've seen that before. they would have to pull out ALL the stops to make it worth revisiting.

honestly, since they've already done the Hulk goes crazy thing before I would rather see Hulk going up against a hijacked/mind-controlled Thor with the help of Doctor Strange. having Thor go all out, using the hammer, and seeing Hulk in a position where he does NOT want to hurt his friend, and struggles to contain his rage with the help of Strange would be a nice dramatic change of pace. everybody expects Hulk to HULK SMASH! but if the drama is that he has to keep things under control and contain an OOC Thor it's much more interesting.

It's the only way they can do World War Hulk without giving it its own movie (which would require Planet Hulk first).

Well Dr. Strange should be dispatching demons not summoning them to fight for him. No I am not a WWH fan.

Drastic measures dictate otherwise. In WWH, it was a move on Strange's part when all else had failed to stop the Hulk, and it's one of the story's highlights. You don't have to like it, but it's cool.

Nah, cool would be to stop time and then send the Hulk into the Dark Dimension. Or send him to Eternity or a few dozen other things classic Dr. Strange could do.

There are lots of cool things Strange can do, but elements of WWH obviously found their way into Ragnarok. But you can always get busy on the, uh, Twitter or something.
