So really it was unusual for a hero to have such a well defined beginning, middle, and ending arc.
I too found the beginning, middle and ending arc to be well defined DeFalco and Frenz did a to me SPLENDID job.

    Thor #446 Apr 1992
Operation Galactic Storm part 14, "Now Strikes the Starforce!"
Story continues from Iron Man 279. A quintet of avengers travels to the Shi'ar throneworld for an audience with Empress Lilandra!
The heroes from Earth, led by Captain Marvel, hope to convince the Majestrix Shi'ar to end the intergalactic war against the Kree and recall the Nega-Bomb!

Is that wishful thinking? After a testy hearing in front of the royal court and the Shi'ar Imperial Guard,
all parties retire to their quarters while Lilandra ponders the Avengers' bold request!
However, a short time later another quintet of adventurers arrives on the throneworld! Ronan, Ultimus, Shatterax, Korath, and Supremor!
These Kree warriors would also like to see Lilandra! Or perhaps more specifically: kill Lilandra!
    When the Kree Starforce gets the jump on the Imperial Guard;

the Scarlet Witch, Living Lightning, Captain Marvel, Starfox, and Thor spring into action!
Can Earth's Mightiest Heroes save the Majestrix from her Kree executioners?

Story continues in Captain America 400. Cameo appearances by Wonder Man and the Vision.

I loathed the "Operation Galactic Storm" event when it came out.
I've come to actually enjoy it in recent years.

I would agree with this too.... At the time there was a lot of that crossover that I cared NOTHING for and it seemed to go on FOREVER... West Coast Avengers, Wonder Man, Anything involving the Kree... Anything involving the Shiar... I couldn't care less about any of those things...

I liked the Quasar stuff, and seeing Thor beat down Superma... Gladiator was a LOT of fun.

Since then I picked up the first trade paperback and it reads better all at once... but still haven't seen how this ends. Only heard the legends :-/

Seeing this thread has reminded me how much I really miss Eric's son, Kevin Masterson, a.k.a. Kid Thunderstrike.

Kevin's one of the teen heroes, and also legacy heroes, who really could use the love but who generally spends time in comic book limbo. He'd joined the Avengers Academy at one point, but hasn't been seen for about a decade or so. I think the last time was in that one mini where Amadeus took him and a few other teen heroes on some mission, trying to make a team out them, but then they ditched Ama after it was over since he was being smarmy and manipulative. I don't think Kevin has been seen since.

I've always loved it. At it's core, pure super-hero fun.

    Peace

I've warmed up to it as well over time.

Being a twenty something comic snob back then, it just seemed like tacky '90s cheese to me but now I feel much more fondly towards tacky '90s cheese!

Looking forward to this Epic Collection.

I have to say, I prefer Eric Masterson Thor over Odinson Thor.

Love Thunderstrike, it seems unfair with the revolving door of death in the Marvel Universe, Eric hasn't gotten another chance

He was also in the Infinity War story. I'd like it very much if after AVENGERS 4 in 2019, one of the 20 MCU movies is to be THUNDERSTRIKE!

They established him in the modern day marvel U in a 2010 mini series. He showed up after that in the Fear Itself event in some book also.
