Still mad that it's ANOTHER Spider-Girl book, and not a book that includes Peter and MJ being married as a main focus...

Man. I've been doing a little rereading of Sensational Spider-Man and the current Amazing Spider-Man run, and I think we really got shafted with this series in terms of art and writing. This concept deserved so much more.

I can agree on the art, yes. That said, I really hope Spider-Geddon is just a "pause" or "hiatus" for RYV and RYV gets announced for a relaunch soon. Which Sensational Spider-Man are you talking about, though? The one that started with Ben Reilly as Spider-Man, or the one that was renamed from Marvel Knights Spider-Man in the 2000s?

The renamed Marvel Knights series, by Roberto Aguierre-Sacasa. Mostly I reread the Annual by Fraction and Larocca that Spencer quotes in the new run #1.

I think that before the time-jump, Conway and Stegman had some solid plot ideas that led to the Normie conclusion, but Conway really didn't write the relationships that well. After the time-skip, Houser wrote the relationships much better, but her plots are so insignificant. The best issue was the vacation one-shot, and the art for that one is just so...mediocre. It's painful after the beauty of Stegman's art, or the current stuff by Ottley.

Oh, yeah, I remember that one. I also enjoyed the Aguirre-Sacasa run for the Civil War tie-in issues, some really beautiful characterization for Peter, MJ, Aunt May, and even Felicia. To me, RYV's biggest missed opportunity is not including Felicia as Annie's cool aunt who lets Annie have some fun, but out of respect for Peter and Mary Jane tries not to steer her wrong. That said, I can agree with you on Houser writing the relationship dynamics much better, especially in terms of addressing the older sister Annie could have had and Annie's own Uncle Ben. All in all, I'm sad this series is ending before Houser could really take the gloves off.

I'm not a fan of that decision, but i have to admit, Sacasa, PAD and JMS did some great things with it, especially the trilogy arc that showcase the 3 most importan women in Peter's life.

Agree with both of you - the trio of issues about the women in Spidey's life are really good. Helped by the excellent work of guest artist Sean Chen (who I got to sign the MJ issue of that trio!), they're just really emotional and well written.

I do love the way they address the Clone Saga...the art just drags it all down so much, as does the lack of a really strong longterm plot.

That depends entirely on whether or not Peter and MJ survive Spidergeddon. It's entirely possible Annie loses both her parents and has to move in with Mayday or migrate over to 616.

Let us hope they've learned better since Spider-Verse.

Yeah, I'm hoping the "shock deaths/shock returns" thing in the solicit means we get some previously dead characters back

Shock returns could also refer to Ultimate. Maybe they hid 1610 Jessica for a reason? Maybe someone forgot we've already had two confirmations of her being around.

And yeah, Spider-Girls could easily set up Annie moving to the MC2 or 616 universes.

After the hideously betraying Clone Conspiracy, I doubt that we're getting anyone back.

Yeah. I really hope they learned that it wasn't very popular to promise return only to literally melt those dreams in front of readers.
