Default Cover Contest for 1/18/17 to 1/24/17 - Homage Sweet Homage

For this contest I am looking for covers that are an homage. It can be an homage to another comic book cover or some other work of art. Movie posters are allowed also so I'm giving a lot of options. I am also posting the inspiration to the cover but you don't have to. Just say the title and issue #/cover artist if its a comic or the title of the source it its not a comic book. Have fun!

THE SOURCE (note artist Pat Broderick's Kirby credit near Doom's boot)

    THE CUT AND PASTED RULEBOOK:

    • Post One (& ONLY ONE) Cover that fits the theme of this Week's Contest!
    • Cover must be from a Published Comic Book or Collected Volume!
    • Covers must be Posted before Voting Begins!
    • Voting Begins 12 AM Thursday 1/12 and Runs Until 12 AM Wednesday 1/18 PST (3 AM EST)!
    • Vote by Posting the name in BOLD of the Poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most! A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to Count-The-Votes!
    • The Winner of the Contest is the Entry with the MOST Votes after the Voting-Period!
    • It's Okay to Discuss the Covers but if you Think Someone's Entry Doesn't Fit the Theme or Violates the Rules, you Don't need to Argue it in the thread, Simply Don't Vote for It!

Occasionally Voting will Result in a Tie! The Person Who Started the Thread and Thus will do the Counting that Week will Usually call for a TIE-Breaking Vote from Someone who has Not Yet Voted!
AFTER the Tie-Breaker Vote, Voting Ends and the Winner is Declared by The One Who Started the Thread (or assigned surrogate) and Thus will do the Counting!

    Good luck!

    From 1992:

and of course from 1930, the original American Gothic by Grant Wood:

(In case you don't know, the models who posed for the painting were the artist's sister and his dentist!)

Despite the 90's-ness of it all, Aquaman #3 chooses a pretty darn great cover to homage...

The portrait of Luthor itself is based on this one of Churchill.

Except every one of the creators of the book (from editorial on down) have said at one time or another the entire book was inspired by/parody of the Trump book because Luthor of the Man of Steel revamp era was inspired in large part by corporate raiders like Trump of the time. So the inspiration/homage was carried out not just on the cover level but for the very inspiration for the project as a whole, so yes it is inspired/homage to the Trump book.

This cover to a pretty fun series is an homage to the box art from the first Sonic game in 1991.

Done so soon after the Spider-Man issue came out, too. Shameless, Todd! Absolutely shameless! Gotta love the 'After ME' credit, though.

This Batman comic paying homage to Darkwing Duck. Who poses better is the question.

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
