Default Cerberus (Greek Mythology) VS Fenrir (Norse Mythology)

    Which badass canine takes it?

No religious version. Just whichever fictional portrayal.

My money's on the one that's fated to kill Odin.

This fight actually happened in Marvel. There wasn't a winner, since Hel intervened and just banished everybody at the end.

Going by feats, though, that fight was chock full of PIS. Both have fought Thor - Fenris was considered a huge threat, but Cerberus got completely punked. Cerberus has also been beaten up by Wolverine & Colossus, the F4, and Werewolf By Night.

It's not as if anybody actually worships either of them.

As someone said, Fenrir kills Odin and even the gods are afraid of him and have to trick him while Cerberus gets beaten. Granted it's by Heracles. Not sure that even the gods feared him though.

In mythology, they did not. Quite the opposite; the entire reason for the Twelve Labors was Hera driving him mad and forcing him to kill his children, then ordering the Oracle at Delphi to tell him to serve his arch-enemy for 10 years.

Actually, I was questioning if the gods feared Cerberus'.

That...makes more sense. But in any case, it's not mentioned in any source I'm aware of, and generally if the gods are scared of something in mythology, it tends to get mentioned.

    Fenrir is a universe-ending threat.
Cerberus is little more than a superpowered guard dog.

The Monarchy points to "Norse" taking it.

There can be a fine line between religion and mythology, but we're planted firmly on the mythology side; for the sake of those versions let's say we're drawing on Euripides, Hesiod, and Homer's volumes of Heracles, and Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda.

cerb's track record isn't so good. not that he's a punk but people tend to get by him a good deal.

fenrir, as others have mention, is something that even the gods are scared shitless of, and he's the one fated to merc the all-father so there's that.

In myth, he only prevented mortals from entering Tartarus and prevent the dead from leaving. Heroes still bypassed him via trickery most of the time IIRC.

Was Fenrir a universe ending threat in mythology? And what feats does it have to support this claim?

Well, it was more that it was one of the great calamities of Ragnarok and, in addition to having bitten off the hand of the god Tyr during its initial chaining, is fated to escape, devour the moon, then die while simultaneously killing Odin, IIRC. Though I can't remember how large the Norse thought the moon was, so I don't know how impressive that great is.

Those are all just statements though, not feats. What about Cerberus? Does he have feats?
