Most of the criticism I've seen hasn't been so much "not enough Godzilla" as "the stuff that's not Godzilla blows goats".
"It's not whether you win or lose, it's whether I win or lose." - Peter David, on life

"If you can't say anything nice about someone, sit right here by me." - Alice Roosevelt Longworth, on manners

The main problem that the new Godzilla suffers from is that Aaron Taylor Johnson's character is so painfully uninteresting as a protagonist and you just want Brian Cranston to come back and chew the scenery again.

That tends to be a problem with Godzilla movies as a whole. For every Captain Gordon there are far more unlikable/uninteresting characters bogging down the movie.

Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Oh yeah, and totally covered in dog hair...the cats were ticked when I got home. My favorite visitor was a female English Bulldog, I was talking with someone at the table when I felt pressure on my foot, I looked down and here was this solid dog sitting right on my foot. I finished talking with the one visitor and looked for the bulldog's human, when I made eye contact I stated "your dog is sitting on my foot" the reply "oh yes, she doesn't like sitting on bare ground. I hope you don't mind." She was such a cutie I had no problem with 65lbs of solid dog on my foot.
    What have I always believed?
That, on the whole, and by and large, if a man lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, in the end, more or less, turn out all right.

That title sounds like a porn. I'd say a gay porn, but considering it has a woman in it, it's likely the kind where the woman gets it in the end. *nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink*

    The MunchKING draws a diagram:

A product of a different era "Back Door Love" probably meant the guy went in and out of the back door of her house, because he wasn't supposed to be there and didn't want to attract attention.
Thank you, O Wise and Wonderful MunchKING. Now can you explain boner puns to me?

Well, of course. But, like always, the white guy's version is more famous.

Personally, whilst I appreciate the skill he showed in filmmaking and the debt that filmgoers owe to him for making the medium the popular art form it is, I don't actually enjoy his movies very much, and personally prefer The Marx Brothers.
    Thoughts?
Charlie Chaplin's very much a product of his time, and while I can appreciate his technical virtuousity, his stuff can sometimes come off as overly twee. I prefer Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd, both of whom produced work that has travelled better.
And I ADORE the Marx Brothers.

There should be more of this.

Pol Rua: Lord of jackanapes and hullabaloo.
    AND
Squirrel: Mistress of callipygian curvature and concupiscent debauchery.
    IN
The Devilment of the Phantom Lucha Libre Mask.
    I'm for it!
We would however need a sentient robot accessory, maybe some sort of work-related carrybag or satchel, which could make smutty jokes and innuendo. Michael Hod, perhaps?

    Captain Gordon WAS awesome, though.

Captain, in Order to build a better world, sometimes means tearing the old one down... And that makes enemies.

Is it weird to think the recently ousted Thailand Prime Minister is hot?

Because I think she is hot. Call me weird if you wish.
