Dox, those EPTs are a heck more difficult to drive than I thought. Especially the steering takes some getting used to.

But oh well, practice makes perfect.

Went through my first annual employee feedback as an employee of the US government. It went pretty well so I can exhale a bit.

On a lighter note, Halloween's one of my favorite "holidays" but being out of the US takes some of the joy out of it.

Yup. Steering in the back is counter-intuitive to a LOT of people. You will make many mistakes.

But oh well, practice makes perfect.
And that's the thing...in a couple of weeks, you'll wonder how you didn't get it before.

Ohayo gozaimasu, my little punishers! I hope all is well with everyone! Yesterday felt more like June than October, what with temperatures reaching into the mid 70's. However, by Saturday, we'll struggle to crack 50. WOW!

    Pharozonk gets taunted:

I get annoyed when they berate for not liking a movie like the Dark Knight by saying that I'm too much of a "fanboy" who can't appreciate Nolan's genius.
That always cracks me up, as I consider Nolan responsible for what's WRONG with the movie (the endless annoying plot holes and PIS). He's not a hack on the Snyder level, but he's hardly "genius".

When we stop being hidebound Americans, probably. The problems is people see this as voluntary. If the gov't just said "OK, we're using the metric system now, adapt." we'd do like everyone else and adapt because we had no choice (that being the "line in the sand" for Americans to do pretty much everything).

Does anyone here live in Austin? I'll be there for a day or so next week, and am wondering about comic shops.

    yep.

the best known is Austin Books & Comics http://www.austinbooks.com/
-- which is one of the largest shops in town, and is pretty close to a BIG Half-Price-Books, with a lot of Comics and TPBs for sale too.

Fairly close to UT (tho not walking distance).

When I used to buy local (I get my comics from Zeus! comics in Dallas via mail-order these days). . i used to shop exclusively at Dragon's Lair (on Burnet and Anderson Ln).

they seem to be more of a gaming store these days, but still have a great store & selection.

    Thank you, bert!

I hadn't even thought of asking about HPB, despite my inability to pass one without going in for at least half an hour.

no worries. . the one by Austin Books & Comics is one of the biggest in the State (it's what's left of the "original" one in Austin, when it moved from the Drag by UT).

it's at Koenig and N. Lamar:
