Default Actual flash comic book reading order?

Actual flash comic book reading order? I have been looking around for a comic book reading order so I can have an exact list of what to buy. So far I have found a lot of flash the paperback reading orders. None of the actual comics. Some have the comics in parentheses but it's very confusing trying to figure out what the reading order is that way.

    Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure what's quite so confusing . . . if you look at the cover-dates of the various issues, that should solve the problem.

It's not like The Flash has three different solo-titles or anything.

The link doesn't have the old comics.

    Here's what's confusing:
    Flash Comics (#1-104)

THE FLASH Volume One (#105-350) (Flash Comics #104, Showcase #4,8,13,14, The Flash Vol.1 #105-132)

Showcase Presents: The Flash Vol.1 (Flash Comics #104, Showcase #4,8,13,14, The Flash #105-119

What does showcase #4,8,13,14 mean? They do that a log they have random stuff.

So... you're talking old Flash, not current Flash...

In that case... use the Archives as a guide.

Silver Age Flash (Barry Allen) first appeared in Showcase #4, which was a try-out title back then.
He had two more outings (#8 and #13-14) before being awarded his own book.
Instead of launching with a new #1 (back then long-running series were more favorable as it showed retailers and customers that the book had longevity), they just resumed the Golden Age Flash series (removing "Comics" from the title), with Barry as the star, beginning with #105.

That would be this era of Flash.

Two of the Showcase issues are here.

#350 was the last issue of the series and Flash was killed off in Crisis on Infinite Earths, an event that was going on at the time.
The next Flash series featured Kid Flash stepping up and becoming Flash after Barry's death.

You do realize you're now including comic books that date all the way back to early 1940, over 75 years worth of comic books?

And "Showcase" was the name of a comic book from the 1950s - 1970s.

I understand that. I'm already buying stuff from series 1 and 2 right now. I will have to read the "Flash Comics" 1-104 online or in paper back collections. I would really like to own the other stuff. That's why I'm trying to find out aside from the main series what else do I need to buy? I'm in the process of getting all the 1-5 series on eBay.

What exactly are you referring to as "Series 1", etc?

    There were
    * Flash Comics (1940-1949), an anthology comic book where the original Flash (Jay) was just one of several features.
    * All-Flash (1941-1947/48) which was the Golden Age Flash's solo-title
    * The Flash (1959-1985) which starred Barry as the Flash
    * Flash (1987-2006) featuring Wally taking over the role of Flash
    * Flash: The Fastest Man Alive (2006-2007) when Bart was Flash
    * The Flash (2007-2009) which was a return to Wally as Flash and continued the numbering from his previous run
    * The Flash: Rebirth (2009-2010) a six-issue series that brought back Barry as the Flash
    * The Flash (2010-2011) which was Barry as the Flash
    * The Flash (2011-2016) Barry's New 52 series
    and currently
    * The Flash (2016-present) Barry's series under Rebirth
Not to mention other specials and annuals, not to mention Barry's occasional features in other comic books like Showcase and Adventure Comics.

I'm not trying to get every appearance just the main series stuff, one shots, and some mini series . Basically just the stuff he's the primary character.

If you're going for the Barry Allen run from Silver Age to present, the issues of Showcase that feature him are important (since they precede Flash #105), but I'm not sure which of those stories are reprinted in Flash Annuals / Giant-Size issues.

    Last year, DC released

THE FLASH: THE SILVER AGE VOL. 1 trade paperback
    (http://www.dccomics.com/graphic-nove...lver-age-vol-1)
which I believe collects the stories from Showcase as well as Flash #105-112. Volume 2 should be coming out later this year.

Also, Barry's stories in Adventure Comics #459-466 (1978-1979) from when it was a $1.00 comic book with several features should be considered at some point.
