Probably the '90's clone saga just because that overall era encompassed so many bad ideas (cyborg parents, replace Peter, Doc Ock dies, Aunt may dies, Spidercide, etc). I didn't like the Mackie relaunch but that was more flat/forgettable than the clone saga.

I don't hate the Clone Saga as much as other people. The Clone saga definitely has its bad moments but we all can point to what went wrong with the books and when. However plenty good exists in the saga hence how much of that gets brought up again and people who still ask for Ben Reilly back.

I'd say it's kind of the reverse of Superior Spider-man, Starts great and then when it ends goes out on a thud.

I'm going to say a mixture of the Mackie reboot and the OMD reboot.

Tough choice between the Clone saga and the mystic totem garbage. Both were absolutely horrible but the Clone saga keeps resurfacing.

Out of these choices, I went with Parker Industries.

But the worst era of Spider-Man is the Mackie / Byrne reboot of 1999.

I really dislike clones. The Spider-God only Knows why Marvel keeps digging them up.

Whichever era is your favorite - that's the worst one.

-Pav, who voted that Spidey is always great...
You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back

Clone Saga has such great highs. I truly enjoy many of the stories of that period. But ultimately it crashed and burned so badly, I'd have to choose that time period. Wish Marvel had learned their lesson and stopped trying to get rid of the marriage at that point.

    5. The late-'80s stuff, post-Hobgoblin but pre-Venom. Very awkward time period.
    4. Clone Saga. It had its share of good points, but the bad far outweighs it.
    3. Parker Industries CEO. It's just not fun. Whereas Superior was a LOT of fun ... *sigh*
    2. Brand New Day. It took a LONG time for Peter's post-OMD status quo to settle into something consistent (and I'd argue it never truly did).
    1. Byrne's Chapter One reboot/Mackie's attempts to make it work. Just TERRIBLE.

From reading it seems that I've missed out on a lot of awful Spider-Man runs, granted I've never been a huge SM fan but I did collect for a time there because the 90's FOX cartoon was red hot and Wizard magazine was telling readers to buy Spider-Man because otherwise you were a loser. LOL!

Fortunately I stopped buying just in time to avoid the Clone Saga and good timing too because Wizard would lambast that thing like crazy, then when the Ultimate line was starting I collected USM but then I realized I didn't even like it as much so I gave to my LCS for store credit of which I don't look back on.

Technically, a good amount of that happened before the Clone Saga.

You could make a case for the pre-Clone Saga year, starting with Maximum Carnage.

The Clone Saga without a doubt.

The Dennis O'Neil run, that period was just, really boring.

Yeah, but it came out at the same time as Roger Stern's run on Spectacular Spider-Man, so the entire era wasn't that bad.
