I've been in love with Deathbird, since forever. Like... her original design.


She's gotten a few redesigns, most notably by Jim Lee, I think it was:


Which is fine... but I feel her original design was best.

From her javelins, he claws, and her deadly wings...

One of my favorite X issues ever. Still wish her and Bishop would have just stuck it out together or at least procreated (not Aliyah someone with a cooler design). I don't think Deathbird would ever stick around for anyone.

I ended up finding it on eBay, and found it's just a pretty small figure - was hoping it was a statue type quality.

I think Deathbird would only stick around until it no longer benefits her. Like I think she would have stuck around with Vulcan, because the position it put her in.

I would assume he's talking about Uncanny X-Men #358, which had its cover linked above - it's a pretty great issue.

I think Deathbird would only stick around until it no longer benefits her. Like I think she would have stuck around with Vulcan, because the position it put her in.

Can't see it working longterm - Deathbird wouldn't be okay with anything that had her playing second fiddle.

Actually... she was originally against Vulcan killing D'Ken because she didn't want to be empress. So, I doubt she'd want to depose Gladiator. Which is exactly WHY she stuck around with Vulcan. Vulcan made himself emperor so that Deathbird didn't need to worry about it.

But I don't see Deathbird being second fiddle. I think she would be manipulative and underhanded, using Vulcan as a buffer, while she did her own agenda.

How come Deathbird has wings and Whatzername the Empress doesn't?

marhawkman explained it; but what's funny, is when Jim Lee redesigned her, he did away with the wings. And yet, throughout her appearances, post Jim Lee's version, she's seen using her wings off and on. So, while I always assumed they were connected from her wrist to her sides/back - apparently, that's either not the case - or it's simply writer inconsistency (I believe the latter).
