Red face Death from Above - The Deathbird Appreciation Thread.

I've been in love with Deathbird, since forever. Like... her original design.

She's gotten a few redesigns, most notably by Jim Lee, I think it was:

Which is fine... but I feel her original design was best.

From her javelins, he claws, and her deadly wings...

What is not to love about her?

Does anyone know where this is from?

Who else was a Deathbird fan?

One of my favorite X issues ever. Still wish her and Bishop would have just stuck it out together or at least procreated (not Aliyah someone with a cooler design). I don't think Deathbird would ever stick around for anyone.

Hah - sorry the "What's this from" was a reference to the figure:

I ended up finding it on eBay, and found it's just a pretty small figure - was hoping it was a statue type quality.

I think Deathbird would only stick around until it no longer benefits her. Like I think she would have stuck around with Vulcan, because the position it put her in.

The whole thing from Uncanny X-Men #154-167 was absolutely epic in how well it was laid out.

The Shiar have it I think. IIRC it got put in an artificial womb when she was left comatose.

At some point after death of Emperor Vulcan, his wife Cal'syee Neramani (Deathbird) (at that time paralyzed and in stasis), was captured by the Providian Order. However they weren't interested in Deathbird, but only in her child - hybrid of atavistic Shi'ar and powerful Mutant. Sharada Darthri experimented on the baby and infused it with Kree genes, thought the influx was stopped by the awakening of Deathbird, who rampaged the laboratory (X-Men Vol 4 #18-20). But - there's a bit of strange continuity - because Deathbird would be seen AFTER this in Spider-Man & The X-Men #5, where she been taken over by the venom type alien symbiote - and she's leading a back of brood, also infected with the symbiote - and she is once again, pregnant. (Doubt if it's a new child so soon). And it's only when Spider-Man mentions fighting the influence for her kid - that she breaks free. But then, after they win the fight - they don't say what happens with her (or her child, since she's still pregnant). So the question remains...

    Which issue you talking about?

    Uncanny X-Men #154-167?
The issues with Vulcan and Deathbird together (I assumed, because you mention "them as a couple").
    Or the X-Men v4 issues & Spider-Man & The X-Men issues I mentioned?

I would assume he's talking about Uncanny X-Men #358, which had its cover linked above - it's a pretty great issue.

Can't see it working longterm - Deathbird wouldn't be okay with anything that had her playing second fiddle.
