Longer Answer; A relationship between Peter and MJ won't happen because Peter has to have balance, this was the reason given why Peter would never date a superheroine and lots of people want Peter and MJ back together asap.

As long as Marvel editorial persists in their views, they won't allow Peter and MJ to ever happen again anyways. Give her some use, a "bright side", some "new life" in her potential continued usage to Marvel again. I could see it; "Marvelous Mary Jane", her own solo title, freely independent from Spidey, since she could fight her own battles then.

For Starters Thunderbolt was transformed to act as the Hulks enemy not as a friend.
Plus you forget Jen, Lyra, Skarr.

Harry isn’t American Son that would be Gabriel Osborn(Stacy) and you forget Kaine – Scarlet Spider as well.

I have no problem with this as I’m one of the few who doesn’t want Peter and MJ back together again but there would be backlash from hardcore Peter/MJ fans if they ever chose to go down that route. Depends on what percentage of those fans get the book.

Because according to Slott it’s a balance act between Spider-Man and Peter Parker (like there two characters), peter’s life has to be difficult you can’t have peter have challenges he rises to like Iron Man or Cap, nope his story revolves around the Parker luck.

Except your changing the character, there is no guarantee that MJ would be as popular with powers, think about all the complaints people have about the writers destroying superheroines, heck think about how long it took Marvel to get more than one successful female leaded ongoing

As a starting point, it wouldn't add much to the character other than powers. Her core beliefs and personality would remain the same, so why the need for powers? She wouldn't use them as she doesn't have the same moral imperative as Peter.

People are saying she could fight crime by Peter's side. He would hate that, as with many partners, he can't do his thing as well if he has to be looking over his shoulder to check on a partner. Imagine that multiplied by the amount of history and love the two have shared. It just wouldn't work for me.

Lets remember that for Flash to become Agent Venom, his character was almost entirely changed. Remender pushed a lot of the old Flash back in but to make the change he was unrecognisable for a good while. Also, shoehorning powers into personal acquaintances of the lead character is almost always annoyingly contrived and forced. Not a big fan.

I sometimes feel like the writers struggle to keep non-hero supporting players relevant, so giving them powers or something would be useful to give them a new fresh direction. I voted Maybe, but I think I'd find it pretty cool if MJ got powers and wouldn't find it a problem. So my answer is a big ol' shrug of the shoulders with a "I don't see why not".

Also this wouldn't be that far fetched: she had powers in spider-island. She used web shooters in goblin nation. She's been an avatar for Red Sonja more than once. Hell, the whole Jackpot thing was conceived to test the reaction to such a move.

There was also Hydro-MJ in the 90s cartoon. Granted, she was an enhanced clone of the real MJ, but she was still there for Peter when it counted.
