A (girlish) friend of mine said Ghostbusters just wasn't good. On a level with Thor I/ Suicide Squad.

That is not the reason it wasn't nominated, firstly because it was CGI and not stop motion. Secondly because stop motion movies have been nominated and have won.

Daredevil won a Razzie. And an MTV movie award.

I think what happened is that the outside of Jaylah and Krall, the rest of the Beyond characters didn't have much of a role or speaking lines. Compared to Harley Quinn, Joker, Croc, Enchantress and El Diablo, who all played significant roles and were showcased more, than just background characters with elaborate designs. That and Trek won the hair and make-up Oscar for the ST09 movie. That may have affected the voting process.

If anything, Trek should've gotten a nomination for VFX. The destruction of the Enterprise, Yorktown colony, the bee ships and the Enterprise's new warp effects were all spectacular. It probably would've lost to Jungle Book, but it was a damn sight more creative than Dr Strange, which pirated it's reality/city bending look from Inception. Inception which did win the VFX Oscar back in 2011.

Is that true? Cos that's insane!

Firstly - Stop-motion is indeed animation (and one of the hardest to produce, speaking as an animator)

Secondly - It was created using Autodesk Maya.

Edit: Just realised i'm parroting a comment from above.....

Well wait a second, this premise might require testing. I wouldn't mind some practical experience dying Margot Robbie's hair, just for testing purposes.
