Default Captain America: Shouldn't He Be A Genius?

The supersoldier serum made Cap as strong, fast, resilient, and agile as a human of his size can possibly be. Some of that has got to be neurological. Doesn't that imply his mental abilities should be as advanced as any non-abnormal intellect on Earth, like Pym, or Stark, or Richards, or Doom?

Maybe he has to apply himself first.

I think the core of Cap is that all the internal stuff has always been there, serum or not.

While I don't think neurological improvements would necessarily translate to a higher IQ it could be argued that Cap is a tactical and strategic genius. These are the areas where, along with his physical fitness and martial arts regimen, he applies himself rather than spending time studying the sciences like a Reed Richards/Tony Stark/Hank Pym.

The tactical/strategic side of him being amped due to the SS serum has pretty much been confirmed in several places in his own comic.

I think comics have a skewed idea of genius, where it looks like doing every scientific discipline (and several made up ones) to impossible degrees. Steve speaks several languages, is years ahead of where he should be in combat and strategy, shows a considerable understanding of history, psychology, and anthropology, knows more than competent physics and mechanics, and is quite the artist.

He's a good strategist and he's able to calculate the trajectory of his shield but those feats also required training.
