I was never much of a fan but the story themselves made it for me at least. I also absolutely hated the way he drew The Joker in Dark Victory, my goodness how did he get away with that awful artwork

Tim Sale is the only good thing about Loeb's stories

I am also in this camp. He's a master of light & shadow.

Like many, at first glance I didn't like it because I thought it looked too simple and crude.. but after examining it for awhile and having the read the book I agree he is a master. The way he uses black to obtain some of those noir-ish effects is amazing.

I also don't like how his colors are so dull

    He's not the colorist.

I love Tim Sale's art in those books. The way he used contrast and light to really capture the noir feel really added a lot to the story. He had good compositions to his work. It is very stylized, but this is a drawn medium. Not everything needs to look realistic in comics. I can see where people don't like it. For the kind of crime/noir story that Long Halloween and Dark Victory were going for, it really works. I also liked his work on Superman: For all Seasons. So for me, I love Sale's work.

Love Sale's art in TLH/DV. Also, I think he draws one of the coolest versions of Superman. Love the big chin.

The spread of Dick's parents lying dead at the circus is one of the best pieces of comic art I've ever seen. No dialogue. No though balloons. Everything that needs to be said and felt is right there in the line work. It was my desktop theme for many months.

I personally loved his style and think it improved drastically in Dark Victory over Long Halloween (maybe it was just the coloring that improved).
Also, the lettering in Dark Victory was a lot better.

What? People really think this? Sale is one of my favorite Batman artists ever. His Joker is kinda weak but aside from that he draws a top 3 Batman and Catwoman of all time.

Breaks my heart but I couldn't stand his Superman. Made him look bloated for some reason

Yeah TLH is an absolutely horrible story imo, and I still dig that book just because of the art.

    Nothing idiotic about an opinion.

Tim Sale is one of the best and I'm one of the people who think the art is the main redeeming feature of TLH and DV.
