    Default Cover Contest March 8-14: For International Women's Day 2017 #BeBoldForChange !

This week contest starts the 8th March 2017, exactly a century after the 8th March 1917.

The women in Saint Petersburg went on strike that day for "Bread and Peace" and it started a revolution (the first part of Russian revolution, the democratic one).

For our international weekly contest, we're gonna celebrate women, and follow the International Women's Day's theme of this year.. A day is not enough. A week is just slightly better - but not enough too...

    I quote the site :

For International Women's Day 2017, we're asking you to #BeBoldForChange
Call on the masses or call on yourself to help forge a better working world - a more inclusive, gender equal world
It's gonna be difficult and probably full of imperfections... It's a comic books cover contest after all... Let's try to do our best - with good thoughts and our fun spirit! Don't be afraid!

I'll start with a cover in homage to Lily Renée :

I you check the link to the wikipedia page you will learn more about her absolutely incredible story if you don't know it yet. Shalla Bal posted a wonderful cover on the second page to honor this incredible lady. (I had some issues to find one...)

A sample or her art is also needed in this post, of course :

Be bold! Have fun! And remember :

    THE CUT AND PASTED RULEBOOK:

    • Post One (& ONLY ONE) Cover that fits the theme of this Week's Contest!
    • Cover must be from a Published Comic Book or Collected Volume!
    • Covers must be Posted before Voting Begins!
    • Voting Begins 12 AM Thursday 1/12 and Runs Until 12 AM Wednesday 1/18 PST (3 AM EST)!
    • Vote by Posting the name in BOLD of the Poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most! A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to Count-The-Votes!
    • The Winner of the Contest is the Entry with the MOST Votes after the Voting-Period!
    • It's Okay to Discuss the Covers but if you Think Someone's Entry Doesn't Fit the Theme or Violates the Rules, you Don't need to Argue it in the thread, Simply Don't Vote for It!

Occasionally Voting will Result in a Tie! The Person Who Started the Thread and Thus will do the Counting that Week will Usually call for a TIE-Breaking Vote from Someone who has Not Yet Voted!
AFTER the Tie-Breaker Vote, Voting Ends and the Winner is Declared by The One Who Started the Thread (or assigned surrogate) and Thus will do the Counting!

(I realized that the theme could seem very political in a narrow meaning - especially with the title of the song or the reference to 1917... Please be sure that it's not my intention. Really! We can all have various opinions and ideas, and celebrate women together this week!)

More serendipity than you think, Iron Maiden : yesterday I was thinking about posting this song in the "Classic R+B, Soul, Hip-Hop, etc thread"! The first time I heard Aretha (the same year - 1986 - Sting & 'his' jazzmen and Eurythmics were my first serious concerts : I was 12 and just 13!). Haven't seen the clip since then. Wow!

Let's aim for a lot sooner than that, though.

Currently re-reading: Captivology • Currently re-watching: Guardians of the Galaxy • Currently re-heating: brownies in the microwave
