Congratulations to MRP for a cover which was an early example to the superhero world that women are a force to be reckoned with It's also a symbolic of the history of women's growing role in the superhero comics universe. Unfortunately the journey's not as close to completion as many feel it should be. But with each day, each issue more and more of us realize that girls aren't icky and only a small number of them actually have cooties.
As to what the captain has learned this week, I've learned that despite our open-mindedness sometimes all it takes a classic Marvel cover with a corner box to win.
Great contest. It reminded me that women can be whoever they want to be. They don't have to conform to stereotypes of any kind, nor do they need to listen to what other people tell them they need to be. My hope for my daughter is that she will grow to overcome the many obstacles that society has in place for her, and that the world she is an adult in will be one where gender is less of a big thing.
Every day is a gift, not a given right.
Fwiw, that particular cover is a combo of the talents of Severin (Kull figure and perhaps big cat visage) along with Ross Andru (pencils) and Sal Buscema (inks), who did the original cover.

The Andru cover (inks by Sal).
Congratulations to MRP!
But speaking of Marie Severin: as is pretty well known, she did many cover layouts back then. So here's her cover idea for Avengers #83, MRP's winning entry, that great John Buscema cover.

As promised, this is the original cover I posted, with She-Ra vs. Cat-Ra.
I also considered this one:

Ravin' Ray, you just reminded me how much I liked that Superhero Squad cartoon. I miss playing the game too. I caught up with you a few times there!
