Not a big issue at all for me, but yea, I do think Riddler has tended to be less big. Even IGN addressed the point:
The only sticking point is the fact that Janin's beefcake approach to rendering male characters seems a little out of place when it comes to Riddler. Rather than a thin, wiry shut-in, Nygma looks primed to hit the beach and bounce around a volleyball with Dick Grayson.

I'm fine with some added fighting prowess, but I don't think you need to overmusclularize Riddler to have that.

Sale's alternate cover had Riddler taller than Joker, which was really weird to me because Joker has like always been shown to be particularly tall, since the Golden Age. Taller than Batman some have shown/believe.
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

His Riddler is a dead ring on for an Irish sailor.

I like how cerebral King`s narrative is. He`s smart and is a good craft but again at some expense in the dialogues: "they don`t know a damn thing about me Cat. Not a damn thing. Not even you"

"Yeah Bruce, maybe if you would just stop talking about stuff you did that comes back to bit you in the arse, maybe we would".

Just this year we have what...Two-Face, Alliance with the Joker in a year Zero Sequel and First Victim? Ah wait, how long ago was Europe published?

King, enough with this Bat-Cat crap, it's just stupid. Other than these 2 things, the issue was really good. I find it interesting that Joker didn't smile once through the whole issue, poor thing. Janin's art was phenomenal as always, great colors too.
A thought occurs to me that the Bat-Cat thing in the dialogue could pay off a bit better later on if King makes a point to have them use their actual names when she gives her answer, or if they argue a bit.
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

Yea, I think King could make Bat/Cat (something we're much less used to) more palatable by working in more Bruce/Selinas to ease us into it.

Yeah, I always chuckle abit when I see an artist draw villains like The Joker or Riddler all puffed up.

They're both string beans, not hulked out brawlers.

The only problem with this is that under King's pen I'm sure he calls Jason "Red" all of the time

    I liked this issue
King's Joker reminds me a lot of Moore's take on the character.
Riddler is more of the same from snyder. A bit try hard take to make a goofy gimmick villain a bit more serious and less silly.
Batman is anything if pragmatic spending the whole issue narrating stuff to selina and he sounds completely bored by everything.

You see Bruce and Selina in bed talking about the whole thing just tells me this arc will be great because there's no consequences

Riddler spent a year in prison, I'm sure he could only work out in that cell. Janin has a typical style though and it kinda gets repetitive with faces and body builds.

Not really annoyed by the Bat/Cat stuff anymore. It just highlights how separated Batman is from his Bruce Wayne identity now(which is something I like). He's basically Batman now all the time even with Selina

Besides, he called her Selina when it counted the most, during the proposal. At this point, "Bat" & "Cat" are just their nicknames for each other. They actually have been doing this for decades.

King's Riddler and Joker are sick, and I mean that in both an entertaining way and in a deranged Supervillain way .

One of these days Joker is going to start talking in normal speech bubbles again.

My god does Janin draws a sexy Selina. And a sexy Riddler (which is a little less common). Practically everybody is sexy under his pencils. I'm half-expecting Joker to take his shirt off and show off his hidden abs, or Riddler to completely unbutton his shirt .

It's such a Gotham thing to see the rogues competing with each other for who gets to finally kill Batman .

We've seen Joker get bored with the monotony of his feud with Batman at certain points, but this was an interesting take on it where he's trying to find something to make him laugh again. I'm guessing Batman does something at the end of the war is going do something that reinvigorates their rivalry, so Joker can be back to the smiling jester we all know and loathe.

It still feels weird to me to see this Bat/Cat thing, especially on Bruce's side of the relationship.

Now THIS is the arc I've been waiting for. I have no problems with this issues and I am ready for the next few issues.

    Key points:

Can we have an issue where people are NOT complaining about something? LOL! Now it's the Riddler is not skinny or he is too buff. Riddler has been different body shapes since he first appeared. Let's just bask in the glow of his first Rebirth appearance, LOL!

Um, I really have no complaints. It's the first issue and we see King can write some good rogues. Love that Bruce is talking to Selina in the present and love that they don't have to be naked and under the sheets, LOL! I think this shows some deeper intimacy between them. I can care less about him calling her Cat. It's just a nickname.

Side note, Janin's art is really nice

Was hoping Rebirth would have pulled back on the murderous Riddler.

I don't know. It's a set up. Can't really judge those unless they don't work at all. Interested to see where things go, however. (Not crazy about how there are already two interlude issues planned, so this will take at least 5 months to play out.)

Buff Riddler is sexy so I approve Reminds me of Arkham Riddler being a sort of handsome dude before his obsessions changed him.
