What ticks me off about this is that you know Sony will be banking on people assuming this will tie into the MCU when apparently it's likely to separate Venom ENTIRELY from the Spider-Man character, which is just stupid. Not to mention it's likely to be in competition with Batman, possibly Gambit too. I would be worried about this one.

    What next?

    - Sinister Six?

    - May Parker: Secret Agent (the movie they had in the works)?

I see many interviews in Feige future where he reiterates more than once "No, Venom has nothing to do with Marvel Studios. No. Never. Stop it. SOMEONE STOP THEM"

Yeah, what small confidence I had in this is continually eroding away...

Now I'm sure the Venom Symbiote is going to be related to Brocks' special blood or something .

I'm a Venom fan for life and it's been that way since the 90's cartoon, even the current series written by Mike Costa has been a good read. After what was done to the character in Spider-man 3, I think there's definitely a chance for redemption, but I don't think the names attached are the guys for the job.

    I have mixed feelings.

No Spidey won't be involved at all. Stupidly this would not be the first time a movie company have tried to do a Venom script no involving Spider-Man. Apparently at the time they actually had to come up with a legit reason why the symbiote had a spider symbol on its chest which basically amounted to 'well there's an alien spider like thing on its planet' I gather. Ugh.

Really I feel like this film is going to be a spiteful Alex using it as a way of venting at not being involved with Spider-Man stuff anymore so doing this instead and banking on it working as a trilogy. Personally I think Sony is going to have an easier job selling the Ultimate Spider-Man film with Miles than this.

Also I reckon they'll do away with the alien origin altogether, likely either using the cure for cancer thing from the Ultimate comics or try using elements of the Agent Venom storyline (but more likely with Eddie in Flash's place given he's the more popular host). Personally I would feel more confident about this if the MCU was overseeing it... and I'm really hoping they can't do a worse job on Eddie and Venom than Spider-Man 3 did.
