Default I need help Finding the best fights for all versions of superman.

I recently started reading comics, after reading and hearing about Superboy prime and his history from a freind. I have read all from precrisis to him being stuck on the source wall by the teen titans. I finished GodFall Superman (Mainly because I thought it would be epic by it's name, Loved the villain though, Preus.) Now am like in limbo for what to read next.

I would mainly like to read issues or arcs where their is a lot of major fights or major plot twist are my favorite. I just got into Comics around last few months so I would bow in respect if anyone can help. T_T

    Can anyone help me?

oh and I started reading injustice, but I would like to find more. T_T

Let me see if I can help.

JLA, the runs by Morrison, Waid, Kelly, and Busiek. That would be issues #1 to #90, then #107 to #114.
Death of Superman, Reign of the Supermen, and The Return of Superman.
    Superman: Sacrifice
    H'El on Earth
    Reign of Doomsday
What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?
    Superman: Doomed
    Our Worlds at War
Superman Versus Darkseid: Apokolips Now #1
    Superman Unchained
    JLA/Avengers
For the Man Who Has Everything
    Kingdom Come
    For Tomorrow
    Superman: Red Glass
    Superman Beyond 3D
    Hunter/Prey
    Superman: Ending Battle
    Superman: Red Son
    Superman: The Sandman Saga
Jeph Loeb's Superman/Batman, which runs from issue #1 to #25.
    Superman: Exile
    Camelot Falls
    Superman/Wonder Woman: Power Couple
    Son of Superman
    Massacre in Metropolis
The Pokolistan Zod saga, I can't remember the exact issues but I know some if it happens in the lead up to Our Worlds at War.
    Superman: Lightning Strikes Twice
    Revenge of the Krypton Man
Chuck Austen's Action Comics run, issue #814 to #825.
    Superman: This is Your Life
    DC Comics Presents #43
The Dominus Saga, can't remember the exact issues.
    Path to Doom
Geoff Johns New 52 Justice League run, which is issue #1 to #50
    Final Days
    Last God of Krypton
Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes #250 & #251
Legion of Superheroes: The Great Darkness Saga

And while it isn't a Superman story, read Legion of Super-Heroes #50 from volume 3, 'Life and Death and the End of Time'. It follows LOSH members attempting to avenge the death of Superboy, and few comic book fights top it.

That's all I can think of for now.

I don't think all of these are good, and in fact there are some that I consider to be among the worst Superman stories ever, but from what I remember, they all have big fights in them, which is what you're looking for.

The Death of Superman is obviously a major fight that has earned some legendary status. The follow-ups, Funeral for a Friend and Reign of the Supermen were great too. Reign has some great fights, particularly the conclusion.

For the Man Who Has Everthing has my favorite pre-crisis era fight.

What's so Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way also has some great action.

Superman has plenty of awesome moments in Morrison's JLA run too. That run shouldn't be missed.

    Hahahaha Thanks for the list.

I Bow to you sir. T_T

umm..... does DC comics sell their comics digitally or will I have to go to a store? Especially for the older comics......

cause I read most of the stuff off some websites but I would like to pay for the comics to support the writers. T_T

You can get them digitally. Just go to comixology or amazon (which owns comixology). Plenty of current and back issues or the trades, if you don't want to bother with individual digital issues.

Superman vs Captain Thunder - Superman #276
Superman vs Oxymaxias - Action Comics #429

Superman vs Dominus - Adventures #567, Action Comics #754, Man of Steel #89, Superman: King of the World

...it goes on and on. I can't really come up with a definitive list since as an action, fighting is something he does so constantly and so well.

I'll comb things through later to make a specific comixology friendly list. The old back issues should be reasonable purchases.

Sometimes you can catch the old back issues on a .99 sale. I picked up digital issues for Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow that way. So it's worth keeping an eye out for sales. I also picked up the first trade of Fables for $5.

    Enjoy your reading Hope Returns!
