Hmm, were I to choose movies based only on how I reacted to them on their first release to theaters and not what my favorites are now in retrospect, I think my list would look like this.

There were some great movies I saw as a little kind but many were on television when I saw them so it was still a few years after their release. So only the ones in the theater that I can remember.

I was happy in choosing one film in some years. 1996,2000 choices were automatic as I did not think there were choices. I did not find anything memorable from what I have seen. In some years it was painful. 2004, 2009, 2011. The longest list from which I had to choose was from 2017. And 2018 is actually to be decided. I have seen few movies from last year. Anyway, its a fun thread.
