Can't wait for the new episodes, but I really wish they hadn't introduced continuity between episodes. I like it better when you can watch any episode in any order.
Well, Joel just confirmed in a post to Kickstarter backers that MST3K is done at Netflix. I'm not sure why... I thought it was pretty popular. Don't know what happens next, if they'll find a new home for it or if they'll be able to keep this cast together.
Don't know whether it was Netflix's or Best Brains' decision to pull the plug. Seems like with Netflix set to lose so much content over the coming years they'd want to hold on to stuff like this, especially since the financial investment is minimal and they didn't even have to pay for the first season.
I think MST3K may do better on a more niche streaming site like Shudder. The viewing habits Netflix looks for doesn't line up with how MST3K is meant to be viewed.
Anyway, saw the MST3K live tour a few days ago, and if Joel and the robots can fill up a large concert venue in a medium-sized city I think the fandom of the series is still going strong.
Looks like Joel Hodgson is announcing something "big" on Kickstarter tomorrow. Hope it's a new season.
Half a million dollars in the first hour.
