By the way, DC is even worse . . . look how many marriages were ripped from existence with the change to the New 52.

That is a whole other thing. That was a change to the universe not anything directed at marriages. You actually got the Batman catwoman marriage back 1n Earth 2

I don't think it is fair to lump Reed and Sue in with the others they have had problems but they have been pretty steady considering the genre.

I suppose writers feel boxed in when writing for with married hero. When you think about it Westerns, Detective, and space stories often use a single character. For me the things with comics is I don't really care about their social life. Cage being married does not make him more or less interesting to me to read. I have not desire to read about him dating.
    BND still makes me winch.

Luke Cage and Jessica Jones- Long lasting and with a child
Invisible woman and Mr. Fantastic-Still together after all these years
Black bolt and Medusa-I'm not sure how it will be when she finds out he's alive
Rick Jones and Marlo Chandler- They are still together right?
    Deadpool and Shiklah- Brand new
Captain Britain and Meggan- They're still married too, right?
"It's fun and it's cool, so that's all that matters. It's what comics are for, Duh."
    Words to live by.

    Its not anti-marriage.
    Its PRO-drama.
Which is why we read. Excitement. Intrigue.

Marriage isn't all joy all the time.
And not every marriage lasts --- especially if you've got to deal with planet saving every five minutes, or Altantean sex bombs trying to woo you away.

No, they are not. I read Reed and Sues' marriage. I've read many issues with marriage. Northstar and his hubby. Marriage is a hard bargain. They do not all last. Marvel is an ongoing series Universe. People live a lot longer than in the real world. Reed and Sue may be in their early thirties but, they have been married for 50 years or more. :-)

Medusa and Black Bolt are not divorced she just thinks he is dead, like in a thousand other stories.Luke and Jessica seem happy and in love still and have a sweet kid.

Sometimes a divorce is merely the whim of a writer. Not the whole staff. Sometimes (like if major divorce occuring, like Reed and Sue if they did) it would take executive orders.

They're not against marriages; they're against long-term change and character evolution. Everything goes "back to basics" every few years. It's the same reason the Human Torch constantly grows up but then becomes an irresponsible man again, for example.

    This.

And don't get me started on Johnny Storm and his uncanny ability to avoid fatherhood for the Almighty Status Quo. He's got company with his bros, Spidey and Iceman though.

Marvel is against Marvel staffers feeling old.
"It's not whether you win or lose, it's whether I win or lose." - Peter David, on life

"If you can't say anything nice about someone, sit right here by me." - Alice Roosevelt Longworth, on manners

I was disappointed when they decided to end the Peter Parker and Mary Jane marriage. I liked how Peter Parker came a long way from being a geek to a confident man who married the supermodel. To me that gave geeks who read Spider Man or other comics hope that they too can evolve and with time and confidence get the cheerleader or the supermodel. Look at Bill Gates and his wife! Hitting the reset button was a cheat to me.

I am glad Marvel is progressive about the outdated institution of marriage. Remember, these comics are aimed at children, not old people.

Marriage in comics gets boring after a while at least to me.
    We need better comics

    I don't think that's true anymore.
