Default Preview: Ben Reilly: The Scarlet Spider #1

    http://www.adventuresinpoortaste.com...rlet-spider-1/

Maybe it's nostalgia talking, but I really do dig the blue sweater spidey costume. I'm not a huge fan of this new look in the preview though. The hood kinda looks added on and unnatural.

Edit: Also, what is the deal with the jet pack?!

According to Peter David, Ben is going to be imagining good and evil versions of himself telling him what to do, with the good version being the old Scarlet Spider, and the bad version being the Jackal. So I assume sweater spidey is imaginary, and so is his jet pack.

It's interesting they changed the cover, guess they got too many complaints about that smile on his mask.

Oh wow, good catch. I didn't even notice. To be honest I'm glad they changed it.

    Can't wait.

You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.

I wondered if that was his work! I saw that it said "Tom" but couldn't make out the rest!

As I've said before, I've long preferred his version of the Scarlet suit. No knock on Bags, but his version is just too... clean.

The way Tom drew the costume always made it seem like the thrown-together thing it was.

-Pav, who may have to do his own variant hunting for once as well...

Just noticed the city he is located in is Las Vegas, you can see Luxor in the background (the pyramid) and he must be standing on the replica of the Statue of Liberty at the New York, New York casino.

    Nice detective work!

-Pav, who wonders if he'll become a Raiders fan...

    ...actually, I don't care...

I can't help but find it odd that there was a smile on the mask on the cover yet in the interiors, other than the occasional small indentation, there's no sign of a smile.

So what are some of the differences between Pete and Ben? I see that Ben's more of an anti-hero. I'm curious.

I had wondered that a week or two when I saw that image. I thought it might have been Vegas. I'm slightly disappointed because they said it was a city that hadn't had a character there before when Elektra is in Vegas right as we speak. Plus, I wish the Raiders had stayed in Oakland...

    He really shouldn't be.
He had the same moral compass as Peter, except he was a bit hardened by living on the road, and had a hard time belonging anywhere.
Then he came back wrong and was basically turned into Deadpool-lite.
