I went with Sam even though Bobby is the more interesting character. It always bugged me that Sunspot seemed to be only super-strength based hero in all of comics that had to worry about his durability.

    This was hard.

I really love both of these choices, but I ended up going with Cannonball. Cool powerset, and I've always loved his personality.

Cannonball. I like a good do-right big brother type character.

"Sam Guthrie: Best Kid, or Best Kid? Best Kid." (Jay & Miles dixit)

Also: I usually dislike Sal Buscema's art (Mandrake's inking doesn't help for sure), but I gotta admit that sometimes he puts a beautiful body language in --> Rahne's legs on second panel.

Roberto is SO EFFIN' RAD these days.

I'm still floored that it took him venturing off and out of the X-verse into Avenger territory to snare my attention the way he did.

As many have said, its a tight race, but CURRENTLY: Its all about DaCosta

    Cannonball.

I remember a New Mutants issue where Sunspot condemns a boy for committing suicide. He's arrogant and obnoxious and I never really liked him, though I still think he's a good character(or used to be).

Yeah, basically my opinion. I've learned to appreciate characters that I personally don't like, but that are good in their own way. You can't make good stories using only positive characters, or characters to your liking --that would be pretty boring and lousy.

iIm fairly equal on both but I'll show Roberto some love since he tended to be overshadowed by Sam

He was literally like 13/14 years old and came from an upbringing of privilege. I think the important thing is that he didnt stay like that and matured with age. He has grown up considerably since then. You may want to check out X-Force bc he was portrayed as less arrogant. He's not like a character like Quicksilver, Namor, Sunfire or Northstar who have all consistently been douches since inception

I always liked Sam better, but this page from New Mutants #32 really made me like him even more:

“Now faith, hope, and love remain, and the greatest of these is love.”--1 Corinthians 13:13

    “You had a dream; I have a plan”--Cyclops

“There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes.”--The Doctor

Just perfect. This issue is just perfect --the story, the art, the inking. CC wrote such a wonderful tales for TNM back then, many of them focused in a single character and in a parable style.

I keep loving them, they're among my favorite X-issues ever.
