Now that the contest is over, Is that an octopus with batwings? Excellently creepy! I didn't notice them and thought that was just a rock formation behind the octopus.

That's Cthulhu, asleep at the ocean bottom. He is often portrayed with wings. That cover was one of my runner-ups.

Congratulations to Dark Knight 1047 for a marvelous cover which powerfully shows us what hate means. With the current X-fiasco, it's a reminder that we all sometimes need to be bitch-slapped and let people live in peace.

As to what I've learned this week, I'm stuck. I'm fixated on a 12 part fan-fic (Marvel's gonna buy it, i know, LOL) bringing Blackie Drago back to prominence. Then floolowing it up with an OGN of Blackie vs Doreen Green, the only hero with a hope of stopping him. Yeah, you'd all read it, I know...

Yes, Iron Maiden, as Tami said (nice images btw!) it's Cthulhu and his batwings.

As Lovecraft described it (him? her? ) in the Call of Cthulhu : "A monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind."

I hesitated with those two variant covers for this week issue (the last one) of Moore's Providence :
