HELLL NO!!
The most noticeable thing about Valkyrie in the movie is how much the actress was bland and unremarkable-looking.
She was the most plain person I have ever seen play a character in a super-hero movie.
And I didn't matter at all because she was great in the role.
Exactly what should happen. Not replace the original which has its fans but introduce a new one. Win/Win
Marvel will now have two Valkyries for which to use in various places.
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" - Optimus Prime
It also happened because it outgrew it's original premise. It was set up to "modernize" the heroes free of decades of often confusing/contradictory continuity. But then as it aged, it developed it's own confusing/contradictory continuity, and much like the 616-verse, some writers couldn't be bothered to make things line up.
An easy out for the name thing too if they ever want to reverse it is say Tessa's Valkyrie took the name of her girlfriend Brunnhilde in her place (since the film did have a more traditional Valkyrie as her dead girlfriend).
