    Default X-Men Blue #1 Discussion

So now that X-Men Blue is out what did everyone think?

I personally loved it. The art was great (though Molina draws them a little too cartoony) and the writing even better. The team's interactions were on point, and it had the right amount of nostalgia without being too heavy handed.

    What I liked:
    • Jean as Leader
    • Beast and Cyclops' disagreement
    • The fight with Juggernaut was classic and well executed
    • Magento's supposed goal

I'm really curious what Magneto has up his sleeve and why Jean would want to work with him? He seems to publically want to take out various threats and comrades led astray. There are pics of M, Emma, Sebastian Shaw. Cant wait to see where this leads.

Also the glimpse of things forthcoming include:
    • Encounter with the Wolverine character
    • Facing off against old school Gen X
    • Rematch with the Future Brotherhood
    • An ominous looking Xavier

Thank goodness this comes out biweekly!

Ah! So it does seem that Bunn plans to continue with Monet's arc. I wonder how that'll line up with her GenX appearance?

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this issue. The Juggernaut fight was neat, Bunn is setting up interesting character developments for Beast, and I'm intrigued by what's going on with Jimmy Hudson. Real shame this is shipping bi-monthly, otherwise I'd probably add it to my pull list.

Already said this in the Jean thread but to me the issue reads like a cross between a 90s animated series episode meets bendis's run on anxm.

I absolutely loved it. I think bunn nailed it. He captured the drama that made bendis's books fun to me plus had tons of action and teamwork like a 90s cartoon episode.

I enjoyed it, I'm not a big fan of it being the younger versions but I liked the dialogue and action scenes, the art was great, and I'm curious to see how Magneto fits into all this.

I also liked beast and Scott'/ argument. Right out the gate, bunn outlined some of the existing team conflicts.

This was my favorite of the Resurrxion books so far. It has a sense of fun the X-books have been lacking, and I'm really enjoying the art.

This was a lot better than Gold.

If you like it why not add to the pull list

That was a pretty good start. I don't know exactly what to say about it, as it was mostly just the O5 fighting together, but it was really fun. I like the art style and the coloring but Jean has some weird faces sometimes...

Yeah while the art was great, a couple scenes were too animeish looking for my tastes. It seemed like Molina was switching between a more serious style and a more animated one. I like the serious style way better like towards the end of the book and the scenes with Juggernaut.

    I really enjoyed the issue.
    >Corner box art, editor's notes... Come on, 90s!
    >My main gripe: Jeen's face. She looks all Sailor Moon anime. I don't like it. Molina's more serious style is beautiful! There's no need to be cartoonish just because it's the O5.
    >Poor Scott is still running from his NOT!future self's legacy.
    >I love how the art was cheery and bright then got dark for Madripoor.
    >MADRIPOOR! The O5 are based in Madripoor!
    >Beastie Boy's magic is a game-changer. He can literally snap his fingers and make threats disappear. With this precedent set, it'll be interesting to see how future fights go knowing what he's capable of.
    >Nice to see Teen Angel firing fiery feathers.
    >"For pity's sake..." Really, Bobby?
    >We've seen the scenario of 'plucky lady sheriff trying to coordinate redneck guys with guns off for the hunt' before. It's a cliche at this point. Felt a bit stale. And who didn't see a Wendigo coming?
    >Those previews! Xavier! The REAL Generation X!!! The... future Brotherhood... Ah, well. Can't win em all.

    Favourite panels...

That was my favorite panel too because the art was more realistic looking. Forgot to mention Madripoor is an awesome location for a team base.

I liked Black Tom's: "Now you've gone and done it, the lot of---"
Jean: "You SHUT UP. Take a nap why don't you."

Bunn did it again! This was by far the best new X-Men books. Gold is last for the moment... which is kinda sad.
