    It's strange isn't it?
He did wonders with Superman but everything else just didn't click.

Generations started off strong and then... well it got kind of strange.

Some classic runs listed already. I'd add his 9-issue run of Captain America with Roger Stern and his run on Avengers with Dave Michelinie.

I liked Generations, but the top three have to be Superman X-Men and Fantastic Four. I wish his Hulk run had gone on alot longer than it did.

I think Byrne's DC work is pretty hit and miss. Genesis mini-series was a bad mess, it would have been way better to lose trying to launch characters out and just been a JLA/New Gods story. Some of the Fourth World issues I thought were pretty good. I really liked the Omac series, it was an interesting take. While John Byrne did some cool tricks with zip a tone on the series that looked nice, going black and white was kind of an odd choice. Darkseid vs. Apocalypse is one of the better Marvel/DC crossover stories, only thing that would have been better is to make it a nice long series and included the New Gods and Fantastic Four. That would have been a dream to see those Kirby characters all interact. I really liked some of the Superman and there are a couple of great issues, but then he did some really odd ones too like the Barda/Superman story.

I haven't read Byrne's later Marvel work after 1990. You really can't go wrong with just about any of JB's 70s/80s Marvel work.

You'd have to be a genius to pick X-Men

    FF is not good too

Me personally? I hate his incredibly long run on the Incredible Hulk

I liked his X-Men run and that's pretty much it. There are parts of his Superman work that I enjoy, but overall it either bores me or pisses me off.

I'd also say Marvel's Lost Generation was pretty good too with Stern on the script. I enjoyed his writing on the THING series back in the day too.

It's strange how I always lump that in with his Fantastic Four run.
But yeah, he wrote the ever loving blue eyed Thing quite well.

I'm not the biggest Byrne fan, but his influence on the medium can't really be denied.

For me, the best thing he ever produced as a total package (writer/artist/whatever) was the 2112 one-shot that lead into Next Men. (Next Men was mostly good, too.) I also liked a lot of his FF and his OMAC mini.

The issue where the Thing encounters that monster hunter is one that stands out to me. I can't remember if She-Hulk was in that issue.
