quick google says it was karl kesel.

not that i think PAD's initial contact with the character will have any consequence on his current one, but it was an odd little bit o' trivia. i liked his take on ben back then.

The variant artists so far do make the costume look better. Perhaps it's the lack of the creepy mouth in the mask.
