Default What’s up with Northstar & Aurora’s hair?

Is it supposed to be really really shiny?

I think I heard that's what was originally meant to be, but I've always seem it as them having white stripes/highlights, kinda like Rogue.

Marvel has always been inconsistent with their hair. Sometimes it's black, sometimes it's white, sometimes it's gray, sometimes it's black with white highlights, sometimes it's white with black highlights.

Based on how Byrne originally drew them, I interpreted their hair as being black but so shiny that depending on the angle you looked at it, parts of it looked white.

Edit: so looking kind of like this but without the need for special lighting.

The twins sometimes still get drawn with white hair because, in their early appearances, they’re always shown with light highlights in their hair, which generally indicates white hair, rather than the blue that denoted dark-haired characters. Compare the twins to Shaman, Colossus, Wolverine, and Nightcrawler here:

John Byrne's stated he intended the twins to have very glossy, dark hair and the white highlights were supposed to indicate shine (by comparison, note how Storm’s hair is flat white, not dark with white hightlights). But it’s easy to see where someone who didn’t have that info would look at that and think the twins were supposed to have white hair.

This poster is confusing highlights with reflection. This pic with Shaman next to them is exactly what I mean. The twins must have way shinier hair. Maybe they’re born with it. Maybe it’s Pantene lol

I sort of thought it might have something to do with their light powers.

When was the last time we saw Aurora, anyways? Seems like Northstar is the only one who shows up anymore.

She's not dead, is she? It's hard to keep track sometimes.
