There is a difference between "rooting for it to fail" and "just having realistic expectations about its probable level of success".

Murdoch sucks and his X-Men films suck. Wanting that to end with as little possible carrying on in the MCU X-films is the only honorable thing to do. Feige will give us the X-Men we've been waiting for, and it will bear so little resemblance to the Fox version, he could use every single character that was also in the Fox versions and their would be zero comparison because the Fox versions were so far off base to begin with.

The agreement also provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-MEN with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels.

Not lame to me. Pretty sure a lot of people in here would love to see MCU movies fail.

As long as things exist there will be said things for people to complain about.

Like how Fox fans wish for Disney/Fox deal to not happen because they won't have their "deep" movies anymore? Even though it's pretty clear that Fox movies have hurt X-Men brand more than they've helped? And the success of Logan and Deadpool really really does absolutely nothing for team movies? If anything, they make X-Men more and more irrelevant?
The only thing that hurt the X-men brand is Disney Marvel not promoting them or did you forget the years long ban on X-men Merch, Games, Cartoons ect. Hell would there even BE a Marvel without Fox and the X-men?

an user from another board with connections to Fox has said Kinberg filmed two parts. Im not sure how it could have been done with a conventional shooting timeframe (4 months). I'll wait to see if my friend gets some new info about it

Fox's X-Men helped bring Marvel out of the financial mess it was in but lest not discount Sony's Spider-Man films with Raimi those films were equal phenomena and made more money with Spider-Man 2 still considered by many as one of the best Super-Hero films of all time up there with Donner's Superman.

TAS's fanfare was already over by the time Marvel filed for bankruptcy in 1996, and Murdoch was reticent to even go through with them in the first place. It was only Loesch's vision, and the fact that Fox Kids was so new and needed any content, that it was allowed to move forward. When it was a rating juggernaut, you could say X-Men helped Fox more than Fox helped X-Men...

It was the broad licensing including Blade, X-men and Spider-Man that showed Marvel the potential of its characters, but they made zero money from X1 and only $25,000 from Blade. It wasn't until David Maisel insisted they take a huge loan to create their own studio in the 00's that things changed.

Iron Man was a huge success, which they parlayed into their other early movies, and then Disney bought the company for $4.5 billion in 2014 and the rest is history(that's probably why Iron Man is sooooooooo prominent in the MCU and in the comics). Maisel and Iron Man saved Marvel, not Fox. And now Disney will save the Murdochs by buying their assets so Rupert can go ride off into the sunset with a quadrupled fortune.

Do those people claim to be Avengers fans though? Do those fans want Avengers mugging their X-Men stories?

*Which film is that? The Spider-Man film with the highest marketing budget and marketed as his entry into the MCU with Iron Man all over the promos but still not beating any Raimi Spider film domestic and beating only the ones internationally that didn't have close to the number of foreign markets it did? That film?*

It's too late by this point now. Irrespective of how Dark Phoenix performs, the Fox XCU will affect the MCU to some extent or the other. If it flat out bombs, then Feige will steer clear of as many overlapping characters and stories as possible. One more major flop is also yet more damage to the brand, even outside of Fox's films.

We still have a whole year before the deal is even done, maybe a year and a half. Whatever DP does, it will be over and done with before the document is even signed. Then you still have a whole year or two at the earliest before we start to see mutants in the MCU. I honestly don't think it will matter either way(though it would have been great if Kinberg didn't have to piss on the best X-Men story one more time before he goes...).

True xmen fans want these poor excuses for xmen films to bomb because after 18 years of subpar xmen films we have had enough. These films are tired and it is time for a change as it's clear fix doesn't know what to do with these characters.
ALL HAIL THE HADARI YAO, THE OMEGA'S OMEGA, BEYOND OMEGA, THE VOICE OF SOL!!!! NOW AGAIN THE ONE TRUE AND ONLY GODDESS OF THE X-MEN AS CLAREMONT INTENDED!!!!!
