Another article, riffing off the same:

QuirkyByte.com, X-Men Dark Phoenix Writer Claims The Movie Is Like Casino Royale

... Chris Claremont claims the Fox-Verse is still not dead, not entirely anyway. The Dark Phoenix saga will determine whether Disney will continue the X-Men separately or will they integrate them into the mainstream MCU using the rumored ‘Zero Event.’ Whether his words are true or not is still up for debate. ...

... While promoting his documentary Claremont’s X-Men, he shared a rather interesting view via Screen Crush:

“It’s isn’t like they didn’t make more than one version of Casino Royale.”

To be clear, he is referring to something else entirely. Casino Royale was adapted twice into a movie. The one starring Daniel Craig and Eva Green was preceded by a 1967 Casino Royale movie starring none other than David Niven. While the latter is not necessarily considered a Bond Movie, it was still inspired by Bond Lore. So that necessarily means Claremont is saying X-Men: The Last Stand was the campy prequel version while The Dark Phoenix will be the actual, gritty one:

“Well, I think that’s a perfectly accurate paradigm; the second Dark Phoenix will have as powerful an impact on the comic-book film world as the second Casino Royale had on the James Bond film world. I figure you could do a whole lot worse than that.”...

... Will X-Men Dark Phoenix help the franchise rise from the ashes like its namesake?? Only time will tell. But Claremont seems confident enough to say yes.
Take it for what it's worth, but it's the first time I recall hearing of this 'Zero Event.' Noticed the word integrate was used too, and not reboot, like it was with Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The agreement also provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-MEN with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels.

It's not sad. Avengers and Kids are yin and yang. The Dark Phoenix storyline is not a bedtime's tale either.

Disney is not going to continue with anything from Fox. Skulls are also a very bad idea for this film.

Everyone seems to be throwing the link between comic book movies and James Bond. if only anyone will dare make a comic movie resembling James Bond. The James Bond link was spoken about in Black Panther. I assume they were talking about some well planned crazy spy storyline. it turned out it was more on the perks and fighting weapons. Claremont's comparison to Cassino Royale better be on the entire film storyboard.

Cassino Royale is similar to Logan and Skyfall. Can you imagine, the same type of achievement for Kinberg. One can only dream of the impossible.

Either way, it's led us to where we are now. For good or bad, ultimately tho, remains to be seen. There could be a MAJOR silver lining, as things develop post-deal.

Please stop trying to deflect my comments by calling me him. I don't hate kids. I don't really enjoy what is mostly kids entertainment when I am not a kid myself.

Homecoming has no to ties to any another Spiderman movie. Dark Phoenix has a strong link to X-Men 3 largely thanks to the convoluted timeline

You make zero sense. You keep posting xmen tas screen caps and reffering to it (like Jaddor did). When that was a show made for children! When you watched that show unless you're like 40+ you were a child.

If not for children reading X-MEN in the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc the comic wouldn't continue because alot of ppl age out of comic reading and a new generation of kids picks them up.

People who were kids when X1 came out got to experience Logan because they were finally old enough. Kids are important because without the next generation we are nothing

It's not an accident, its perfectly right. I get more worried about the post-deal when some bring up kids. Why do people care so much about kids. If people want to enjoy good superhero movies for kids they should watch the Incredibles.

It's being very respectful to the first two films.
I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated. Like this is a renaissance.
If you like the Terminator films, you're gonna love this movie.
That's James Cameron on Terminator: Genisys before it's release. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LqgdNVTcRA

So I wouldn't put much in whatever the hell Claremont is saying.
