Appreciating Cerise...


She is one of my favorite members of Excalibur and I hope the X-men Staff will use her again.

Can anybody tell me how powerful Cerise is?

Honestly no. They never delved too deeply into it. She can manipulate light and create things, I know that. She has Shi'ar level strength (so high).

I like her, as well, though. I'd like to see her show up again.

I thought the Shi'Ar connection was lame, and stories following Davis' departure were weak.

She was a ton of fun, and a great addition to the Excalibur team.

I hated how as soon as Lobdell took over after Alan Davis' wonderful solo run he immediately set out to make the series as dark as depressing as the rest of the X-Men books at the time, and quickly got rid of every new character Davis had introduced. Way to destroy something without creating anything worthwhile in its place.

From what I recall, there was an edict from on high to make Excalibur fall in line with the tone of the other X-Men books. Bob Harras reportedly hated how Excalibur stood out from the rest of the line and wanted major changes as soon as he came on board as group editor. And this was all before the rise of the superstar writer phenom - Lodbell's options were likely either do what he was told or take a hike.

Don't get me wrong, I hated how Kylun, Cerise, Feron and the others were ditched too, but the blame for all of that nonsense goes higher up than the newbie writer.

I would also like to see Cerise return and make more appearances. Since Excalibur/X-Men she has made appearances in Marvel cosmic. I was kind of hoping she'd show up in the Excalibur reunion coming up. Too bad she's being left out.

Excalibur and X-Factor should ALWAYS stand out from the rest of the line, so we could always have an ongoing high-quality chink.
