Default Things you never want to see in a Batman comic ever again

-I never want to see him to solve a mystery by finding a matchbook

-Never want to see a big glory shot of all the villains who then get taken out over the course of one or two pages

-Never want to see a Batfamily story where the drama revolves around him pushing the family away and doing things on his own

-Never want to see the Joker hijack the airwaves and broadcast his plans (BTAS was particularly bad about this)

-And I realize this is a stretch, but for at least like one year, please, no pearls, no gun, no alley!

I never want to see The Joker kill a bunch of people like some generic serial killer again.

Tynion/Snyder-esque plots that involve a new villain inserted into a hero's past popping up for the first time in the present, often reframing the hero's entire history. Nightwing and the Court of Owls, Batwoman and the Colony, Orphan and the Mother, Batman's "First Ally," etc.
It's the Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin!... and Red Robin and Red Hood and Nightwing and Batwoman and Batgirl and Orphan and Spoiler and Bluebird and Lark and Gotham Girl and Talon and Batwing and Huntress and Azreal and Flamebird and Batcow?

Since when could just anybody do what we trained to do? It makes it all dumb instead of special. Like it doesn't matter anymore.

You can introduce new villains without stuffing them into a hero's backstory. Batman's rogues gallery is among the best in comics and a majority of his villains have been introduced without retconning them into his origin.

And character progression should be a forward moving thing, not constantly inserting things into a character's past.

Do you really think that there is no other way to explore a character or give them new villains and interesting stories?

Adding something to the past is forward-moving, if it's something and/or someone they've not dealt with before. In every example you named, that was true (or likely will be, since the First Ally isn't out yet).

You can move a character forward without returning to their origin every single time you want to introduce a new idea or threat. An origin is simply the beginning of a character's story, it doesn't have to be a central component of every threat that they face or every challenge they overcome.

Yes, but generally, the changes and stories weren't good...or at least better stories could have been told without it.

Dick's ties to the court I've always found silly and unnecessary, The Colony thing came right the Hell out of nowhere with Kane and while the execution has been pretty good, I'm still not fond of the concept, and everything related to Mother is s**t.

    Nothing wrong with it, either.

It becomes uncreative to me when the same basic template is used the same writer and his protogé frequently for numerous characters all within the same line of books over a five year period.

There are other kinds stories to tell, but it creates the impression that these writers are only capable of using one basic plot.

Same mate. Joker is boring that way.
My favorite characters of all time are Bruce Wayne and Dracula.

There are only a handful of basic plots out there to begin with. The details are what make them unique, and that's what's been done this these cases.

Characters created by Scott Snyder, anything to do with Bruce's parents (or flashbacks in general really), or heroes treating their allies like sh*t just to create drama or some crap.
