Should adult Iceman die at end of his solo?

Since he has a replacement? I mean it just feels strange for there to be a young fresh slate replacement character WHILE THERE IS STILL the older adult established character running around. Like... why are there both.... with Cyclops and Jean the younger replacements are obviously necessary and to some extent true for Angel. Beast is similar to Iceman's tale but Iceman is the most shall we say "redundant" of them overall I feel. Not a whole ton separates the younger and older Iceman?

No way! Iceman shouldn't die... and shouldn't even be able to die.
I was bummed when AoA Nightcrawler bumped off AoA Iceman. He had complete mastery over his powers and it felt like he shouldn't have been able to die like that.
