Who are the Big 3?

The big 3 of DC is Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

But for you who are the big 3 of:

None of those categories really have a set in stone "Big 3" except for Villains of DC which are as mentioned in the two posts above me. A pity that Darkseid isn't a Wonder Woman villain, otherwise the symmetry would have been perfect.

I don't think Darkseid is well known enough to be top 3, if you don't read comics you may well have not heard of him.
Because of that, I'd say the Penguin is one of the big 3... Exposure through tv and films have made him recognisable throughout the world just as Iron man is now, he wouldn't be top 3 in the Avengers without MCU as nobody outside comics knew him previously.

Agreed. And even then Darkseid is a character only fans know. The general public don't know him like they do Joker and Lex Luthor. Catwoman, Riddler, The Penguin etc are all far more well known than Darkseid.

How can there be a "big 3" among X-Men and among Avengers since those teams keep changing out members and constantly have members flip from the Avengers to the X-Men then back to the Avengers . . .
And by "Big Three", are we going by the importance of them to the team or by how much $'s / attention their presence brings to the book?

I go by iconic nature and in-universe status. I'm a big Wondy fan but If you went purely by popularity then she probably wouldn't be in the Trinity because Flash and Green Lantern have become increased popularity over the decades. I suppose the one ting she has going for her is that the Flash and GL fanbases are fractured over many different 'lead' characters.

Tiny Toons Trinity: Babs, Buster, Plucky

1. Teen Titans

Varies, but in the classic Titans, the closest thing would maybe be Nightwing, Starfire, and, I don't know, Wonder Girl or Cyborg? That team was more like a family, so its really hard to pick out three who seemed to stand above the rest. In Johns's Titans run, it was definitely Cyborg, Starfire, and Beast Boy, though, acting as senior members of the team.

You could also say its Raven, Cyborg, and Starfire, as they were the three characters originally created for the Titans.

2. Villains of DC

Most people would probably say Joker, Luthor, and Darkseid. I think however that there is a good case for Joker, Luthor, and Sinestro or Ra's al Ghul, Luthor, Darkseid or Joker, Luthor, Ra's.

3. Among the xmen

Wolverine, Cyclops, and either Storm or Jean Grey.

4. Among Avengers

Cap, Iron Man, Thor

5. Among villains of Marvel Comics

Dr. Doom, Magneto, and Loki. Maybe Red Skull could replace one of them? Yeah, I'd say that Skull has resurged recently in relevance.

Thanos doesn't really strike me as a viable third. Not yet.
