Torpedo had such a nasty death even by comic standards. Having your brain suck out and being replaced by and alien.

Yeah, I saw that too. Torpedo was there, along with Orka and Whizzer from Squadron Sinister.

*Shortpack* yay! I'm kind of hoping that he had his mutation reversed during M-Day. he needed a happy ending after that series.

she should have shown up in Spencer's Ant-Man book; being one of like 4 characters who operate out of Miami.

Here is a character so obscure that they have never actually even appeared.

    Love the outfit though.

This guy is even more obscure than Zarko the Flying Squid.

I was reading Rom heavily when this happened, and Torpedo's death (along with the other deaths in this issue) was shocking and sad. It's one of those fictional deaths that really hit you--sudden,out of the blue, and beyond horrific.

The abrupt elimination of Rom's supporting cast in (fictional) Clairton, West Virginia, was sudden and unexpected. The Clairton cast had been with Rom since the premiere issue, and other than Brandy Clark, the entire cast got wiped out very suddenly. I certainly didn't see it coming.

On the plus side, it really elevated the Wraiths as serious villains. Remember the unofficial line-wide crossover that resulted, where the Wraiths' influence was felt over several books (I specifically remember the X Men and Forge being involved)?

The Wraiths showed up in the Avengers book leading up to the full on Wraith invasion in the Rom book. I really wish Marvel would reprint Rom in trades. That was such an epic book.

Oh, I've read it, and I really liked it. There is so much untapped potential in all of the characters from that series. I would love to see Marvel revisit them someday.

As for my go to super obscure characters, I always choose Solarman, who was mentioned by the OP, and Illuminator. I bet very few people know of him, though he had his own three issue series.
