How about Identity Girl, who's described as being "a new character you've never heard of that's just a watered-down version of a bunch of characters you have heard of."

    Or Maybe

    Mosquito Man

He once tried to convince Stan to replace Spider-man with him.

    Speaking of Spider-man...

Bluebird had a very brief career as a crimefighter in the pages of Untold Tales of Spider-man.

Sleepwalker. I seriously had no idea this character existed and I have been a fan of Marvel Comics all my life.

Because let's face it, you've never heard of them either.

Not really a superhero, but I loved Nth Man.

I had an issue of Comet Man, too, at at some point.

They can't. It would need to be co-published with IDW, who now have the rights to the character.

That book has been on my back issue list forever. I never see it anywhere I'm back issue bins, and I don't buy comics online typically.

Indeed. This was also when the female Wraiths - the red ones with the long, forked tongues - took over from puffy-looking male white Wraiths. The red female ones were more powerful and scarier than the puffy white male ones.

It was pretty cool how a character licensed from an unsuccessful Parker Brothers toy somehow became the center of a Marvel line-wide event. I wish SHOGUN WARRIORS had achieved enough momentum and lasted long enough to get that kind of treatment (imagine MONSTERS UNLEASHED with the Shoguns).

I think the most obscure characters would be the earliest pulp characters that ran in the original pulp mags Timely Comics published. One of them was Masked Raider, a Lone Ranger-type character.

Union Jack. The first Union Jack was the second British Marvel hero to debut (after Blade).

I'm surprised you missed him, he had his own series and he got a decent push at the time. He was one of what I'd call the "Dark Hawk" era of new 90s heroes.

Most of the trainees/staff of Avengers Initiative have become obscure after the series had ended. Even some of the characters who were not created for Avengers Initiative series are D-List people such as Gorilla Girl, Annex, Batwing, Bengal, Geiger, Sunstreak and Whiz Kid.

Also, those Rangers of Texas such as Shooting Star, Red Wolf (not that time-displaced version from 1872), Texas Twister, Firebird, Shooting Star, Fifty-One and Living Lightning. They were last seen in Scarlet Spider issues #7-9 at 2012.
